16th Birthday
Christina Jacobs stirred in her sleep as she dreamt, her powerful Wolf doing things that just didn't make any sort of sense as she breathed fire like a dragon, cast spells like a Witch and used the blood of her enemies to heal herself like a vampire would. To make it even weirder for her, when she spotted Dragons in the sky her Wolf was suddenly changing into a massive Dragon before she took flight. When she was mid dive and turned into a vampire to latch onto the back of a Wolf as she cast a fireball behind it to cut it off from the rest of the Pack she woke up in a cold sweat, not knowing what to make of the dream.
She had heard that when a person gets their Wolf, that dreams could tell of a potential future. If the Wolf was strong enough to see them come to fruition and stayed true to the moon Goddess. Christina however had no idea if she wanted that to be true. She knew hybrids weren't uncommon, even though they rarely had more than one form. Even tribrids weren't unheard of, despite the fact that they almost never had more than one. Generally the one that was most dominant. She however had been doing a lot of research on the subject, and had never even heard what the term for 4 would be.
'The correct term would be a Chimera, one being made of 4 parts is a Chimera.' the gravely voice said in her mind as she about jumped to her feet in one motion as she heard a grating sound that sounded a lot like laughter. 'Sorry, I figured with what you knew you would be expecting me today. You are after all 16, the day Werewolves usually gain their Wolf.' the voice said as she tried to calm her racing heart.
'What is your name?' Christina asked the voice in her head.
'Snow is my name Christina.' the wolf replied easily.
'Was that dream prophetic?' she asked as she walked over to her closet.
'Depends on which part you are referring to. The battle, not necessarily.' Snow replied clearly evading the answer that Christina wanted.
'I was referring to the 4 different forms I clearly had. Is it true?' Christina asked directly.
'Yes, but I do not have any more answers than that.' Snow said eerily devoid of emotion. 'Thankfully it is just me for the moment, as you are not yet strong enough for all of us, and the different parts will come at different times. However you will be at the extreme age of when you can change into us. In fact even though I am here now, you need to train and work hard to make your body strong enough to shift. It will be the full moon after you turn 18 that it happens, when incidentally you get your Witch powers as well.' Snow informed her.
'Are you really that strong, or am I just that weak?' Christina asked.
'You are far from weak, but I am also no Gamma.' Snow replied almost purring as she thought of it. Although she didn't say what rank she was, Crystal knew it was well above Gamma.
Getting ready Crystal quit the internal dialogue with her Wolf, and walked downstairs to breakfast to see her twin brother excitedly talking to their parents about how he could speak to his Wolf already. She didn't bother saying anything, knowing that her father had always hoped his son would be the one who inherited the Gamma Powers, despite the fact that Crystal was the older twin.
"How was your night darling?" Monica Jacobs asked as she set a plate of stuffed french toast in front of her.
"Had a weird dream last night." she replied before cutting into the french toast and taking a big bite.
"How was it weird?" Jason Jacobs asked her.
"We were at war and my Wolf was able to do things that I have never even heard of." Crystal said after swallowing her bite of food. "Are there any hybrids in our family tree?" she asked before taking another bite.
Her parents looked at each other quickly before they looked back at her. "Even if there were, most hybrids only have the form of whatever they are strongest in. Plus you both well know the Pack only accepts Werewolves in it, despite what the Council allows. Hybrids aren't permitted." Jason said in response.
Crystal looked at them and shook her head at their answer. "That isn't a no and it doesn't make me feel any better."
"Did you hear your Wolf?" Monica asked trying to change the subject.
Crystal nodded as she chewed and swallowed her next bite. "Yes, but she wasn't helpful in answering the questions this dream caused."
"What exactly happened in your dream?" Monica asked.
"First I was a Wolf that could breathe fire, than a Dragon flying through the air, and finally a Vampire that could cast spells like a Witch." Crystal replied as her brother Michael laughed.
"I know tribrids are weird, but what would four even be?" he asked incredulous at what he heard.
"A Chimera, but none have ever had any form." Jason said looking at his daughter. "Your site you heard your Wolf?" he asked nervous.
"Yes dad, I heard my Wolf." she said looking at him seriously as he had used the same term her Wolf had. "I am as sure of that as I am sure you are the Gamma pair of the Crescent Pack."
Jason nodded as he looked at her. "Than there is nothing to worry about, now hurry up and eat so you can get to school on time." As soon as she was out the door however she heard her father tell her mother. "I could not scent a Wolf on her. I don't know why she thinks she needs to lie to me."
Before she could do anything rash however, she took off at a run headed for the school. The only difference was her Wolf was aiding her speed, and an easy jog for her was apparently faster than most Wolves could run. The school was 10 miles away, and she was surprised when she made it in 9 minutes 45 seconds. Still mad she went to the track and began running laps, especially glad that almost no one came out here before school. 20 minutes before the first bell she spotted her best friend in the school, who happened to be a Witch from the local Coven.
"Well I see you got your Wolf, how fast were you going?" he asked her and she shrugged.
"That was just a light jog." she said not even short of breath.
"60 miles an hour is a light jog?" he asked her in disbelief.
Christina looked at him with a devilish smile. "Okay smarty pants, the track is 1/4 mile, first lap I will jog, the second I will actually run."
"Fine, is you say so." he replied smirking as she walked over to the starting line for the Racers. "3...2...1...Go!" he said hitting the button on his stopwatch as she took off at the same speed again.
Sure enough the first lap she completed in 15 seconds and as soon as she got to the start line she increased her speed. Jackson Malone's eyes widened as she easily went 3 times faster than she had been, finishing the second lap in 4 seconds flat. "Holy s**t!" he muttered stopping it as it took almost another lap for her to slow down and run up to him at a controlled pace.
"Well?" she asked him as he looked down at his watch and stopped it.
"Well your light jog was a quarter mile in 15 seconds which is right around 60 miles per hour. Lap 2 was the same quarter mile, in 4 seconds which means it was likely somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 miles per hour. Your elapsed time for 3 quarters of a mile was 27 seconds, or around 120 miles per hour." he told her doing the math as she shook her head.
"I can do better." she said with a smile on her face and he shook his head back at her.
"You should probably get better shoes so that I can enchant them for you." he said as she smiled.
"Can you teach me?" she asked quickly.
"Magic?" he asked raising his eyebrows. "It will depend on if you are able to, I know some Werewolves can." he said unsure about it.
"Assuming I am, can you teach me?" she asked him again.
Jack thought about it for anfew seconds before he sighed. "I will bring the stuff to test you tomorrow, as well as bring my book so you can see it if you are." he hedged without really answering her.
'You better do this in the woods earlier than today. The results should be entertaining.' Snow said to her making her smile.
"Snow says we should probably do this in the woods tomorrow morning. Earlier than you were today." she said as he sighed before they walked into the building.
Homeroom they had together with the Alpha and Beta kids, because their families made up the bulk of the future leadership of the Pack, only the Delta twins not old enough to be in the high school yet. Jackson was the second son of the Witch Priest, so his older brother was in here as well in his Senior year of school. They walked in to find Tifanny Mason blocking the doorway, sneering at them as the bell rang.
"Well if it isn't little miss wolfless." Tiffany said sniffing her as she stepped aside. "Christopher tells me you insist you got your Wolf though." she said making the rest of the class laugh.
Her twin brother Christopher was sitting in the corner, his new aura clearly displaying he was the future Gamma and not her. "What, you think because I don't stink like the rest of you mongrels that I don't have a Wolf?" She asked wiping the smirk off Tiffany's face as a few of the boys started growling at her. "Down puppies, I wouldn't want to have to show you who is actually the boss around here now." she finished just as the teacher walked in and glared at all of them as they took their seats.
"That is enough of that!" Mr. Malone said slamming his books on the desk, his fingertips crackling with the energy of his magic. The growls stopped as they all knew full well he could easily handle all of them by himself. "You are all well aware we do not tolerate shifting in the class rooms, especially when your opponent cannot shift yet."
Christina beat all of the others out of the classroom an hour later, headed to the science division where the majority of her classes were for this semester. She was studying Chemistry and Physics, surprising all of them as she was almost just a flash as soon as the bell rang. Jackson shook his head as he made a quick escape as well, knowing that the others of the Pack would come after him if they couldn't get to her.
"Are you always gonna abandon me like that?" he asked sitting next to her, glad that they didn't have any more classes with the rest of the goons in her Pack Leadership.
"Sorry, it is a weird feeling because I know that it isn't all my Wolf is capable of. Walking normally feels so slow." she whispered as the bell rang for this class to start.
By the end of school Christina had so much energy she had to run just to get rid of some of it. She wasn't paying any attention to just how far she was going, but was well aware of where she had come from, as she could smell it as easily as the flowers she had stopped to watch the moon rise in. She hadn't realized it, but she had run for 8 hours straight, and was now near the Royal Pack borders 2,000 miles from her home Pack. The snapping of a twig pulled her out of her focus on the moon, a large Black Wolf coming out of the trees as she turned and looked at him.
The Aura coming off of him was intense, washing over her and making her feel warm and tingly as her Wolf kinda danced in her head. He growled as she stood up and waved at him.
"Sorry, didn't realize I was so close to your border. I will be going now." she said taking off away from him. She heard him crashing through the trees as she ran as hard as she could making the trees go by in a blur of motion. Despite this she could see every detail clearly as she moved, making small course corrections as she followed her own scent home.
Prince David of the Supernatural Pack had found a young girl on the very edge of the border of their Pack, and watched her curiously as she just seemed to have appeared. He slowly crept toward her, trying to scent if she had a Wolf, but because the wind was blowing straight across between them, he couldn't easily smell her.
The twig snapping alerted her to his presence, and he began growling at himself as she said she was leaving and took off running. He followed behind her, amazed that she was even faster than he was in her Human form still. He ran all out, losing ground to her every second that passed as she was atleast as twice as fast as he was.
What he had though was endurance, and he could easily cover a hundred miles a day even on rugged terrain. So he followed her trail as fast as he could, amazed that she had covered so much ground and he had never even heard her again. Several times he was worried she had ran into some of the more fierce Packs in the frontier lands, only for her scent to follow right along the border as she had his lands.
He had been at it for 5 days, covering 600 miles when a group of Wolves surrounded him as they made their way back to their local Pack. It however took only a few seconds once he let his aura out and began growling that they all shifted back to their human forms and knelt.
He transformed back as well, looking down at them. "How long have you been following the trail?" he demanded.
"5 days majesty, we followed it for another 400 miles before a storm that is headed this way wiped it out. Whoever left it is damn fast, we never even saw who it was." the Beta said making David stunned. He had been following it for 5 days and covered 600 miles. If she had made it this far on the same day he had left, he knew there was no hope of finding her.
"How far to your Pack?" he asked.
"About 20 miles back the way you just came. If you followed her scent you went within 20 feet of our border earlier." The Beta replied.
"Which Pack are you from?" Prince David asked.
"Apologies Majesty, I am Beta Kyle of the Blue Ridge Pack. If you follow me we would be glad to escort you." he said as David nodded and they all shifted back into Wolves and went to the Pack.
