“Michael!” Gabriel burst into Adam’s room in a flurry of gold and red and a manic grin. “I need you up, brother.” The sunlight pierced his eyes as he opened them, painfully bright on his face, and he rolled away from the intruder and the agonizing glare to the cool darkness of shadow. Human eyes were so sensitive. Adam was not in the bed, he felt that immediately. A sharp lance of annoyance shot through him. His human had come to bed at some point after Michael had fallen asleep, and he woke in the middle of the night to find Adam curled tight against his chest.
