The time finally came for the auction to start. We went to the bidding area and took our seats. Looking round, there seemed to be quite a few people present. Harry said many of them were probably dealers. I wondered if so many people meant the price of the cars would go too high for our budget. The auction began. The cars were driven into the cavernous room and were parked in front of the banked seats where we bidders sat. The auctioneer was in a glass booth facing us on the other side of the roadway, talking into a public address system so he could be heard above the noise of the car engines.
