The next day, Maya and Delia went to college together. It was already the middle of the first week of study and they knew that the topics for the projects for the current semester would be shared.
- Hello, ladies and gentlemen, I am your Anatomy teacher. Let me tell you how it is. We will hold both courses and laboratories together. Attendance at classes is not mandatory, but do not dare to miss the labs. And I mean it. The final grade will consist of a project, for which you will work on in teams of two. Both the teams and the themes will be determined by drawing lots, so let's start. The first fifteen in the group, please come forward to draw the tickets with the name of the future laboratory partner.
-"And that's how our first team plan went," Delia whispered.
- Yeah.. Just awesome.
Maya got up to pull out a note from her teacher's bowl. When she read the name on the extracted note, she also noticed the pair of moccasins on
the floor, face to face with hers. She looked up and the boy in front of her introduced himself, telling her that he would be her partner, then went to talk to their teacher. Maya had a strange feeling of déjà vu. Although it was her first time seeing her colleague, she knew it would not be easy for her to team up with him.
She was lucky - or unlucky - to draw the ticket with the name of the most beautiful boy from the first year, the embodiment of perfection. At a first glance, Bogdan Sami was about one meter ninety tall, with a physical constitution that left room for speculation on whether or not he went to the gym. His dark, seemingly neglected hair and green eyes gave him a touch of mystery, and they matched his thin but well-defined lips.
A colleague's voice actually ripped her from the daydream she'd been seeing more and more often lately.
- Professor, can Bogdan and I be on the team?
- Did you extract his name, miss?
- No, Vlad's.
- Then you will team up with Vlad, while Bogdan will be teaming up with someone else. That's right for everyone. You have chosen your partners, the others, please draw a ticket from the second bowl.
Said and done. That's how Maya ended up with Bogdan and "Heart". The ideal team and theme for a laughing project. She felt attraction for Bogdan, but it was as if fate did exactly what she did not expect. It "coupled" them for the project about one of the most controversial internal organs. Wonderful.
- You have three and a half months, you will receive the requirements in electronic format. Questions? No? Well then. I wish you best of luck. You will need it.
Bogdan was about to leave college when Maya grabbed his hand to stop him. He winced and turned quickly to her, ready for a dangerous verbal attack. When he recognized the "intruder," the expression on his face shifted from exasperation to gentleness, and the corners of his mouth arched into a sweet smile.
- Excuse me. I called you and you didn't hear me.
- I was thinking of several things. Is it related to the project?
- Yes. I am involved in various social projects and I intend to finish this project as soon as possible. Today I'm going to the library to look for some materials. I'll show you what I found tomorrow.
- I have a better idea. How about I pick you up from the library and go for a coffee? I know a nice and secluded place, where we can work on the project without being disturbed.
- Coffee?
- We will do the project and we can get to know each other better. I'm interested. What you say ?
She felt like she was entering the wolf's mouth alone. But what else? She wanted to see what intrigued her so much about her beautiful colleague. If anyone asked her the next day, she would say they met for the Anatomy project.
- Ok, sounds fine.
- Is it okay if I take you at five?
- Tell me what cafe you want us to go out to and I can come there.
- It doesn't work that way, Maya. I invited you, it seems normal for me to be the gentleman. So?
- Okay, you can pick me up from the library.
- See you at five.
Bowing his head, and holding the diary he used for his notes, Bogdan left the room, while Maya looked behind him, resuming the earlier conversation with her colleague. Was "coffee" really a date, or did she have a rich imagination?
That afternoon brought with it the cool wind and the smell of winter, although it was only the first week of October. Everywhere, nature and people were preparing for the first snowflakes. The city was general cleaning every year. The carpet of multicolored leaves was gathered by sanitation agents and workers, sidewalks were cleaned and swept, trees were cut off from dry branches and those that endangered traffic or pedestrians.
In front of the library, Maya was waiting for Bogdan, trying not to think about the fact that the cold was reaching her bones. She did not expect a radical change of weather. What started as a beautiful and quite warm autumn morning had turned into a few hours, into the beginning of winter.
The knitted blouse that came to her bottom was the only item of clothing in full accordance with the weather outside. She realized that she had made a huge mistake by not taking into account the sudden changes in temperature, and dressing in what suited her best, to the detriment of warmer garments. Through the brown moccasins she received on her birthday from her grandfather, the low temperature played unhindered with her toes.
"Bad luck," she thought to herself. "Bogdan is late. Someone should have taught him good manners. When you go out with a girl, you, as a boy, should arrive before her, not a few minutes later. ” She was preparing for the moment when they will be face to face, when Bogdan's gray Skoda stopped next to her.
He got out of the car and hurried towards her as he spoke to her in a warm tone, despite the weather outside.
- A thousand apologies, Miss Maya. The traffic was infernal. I caught the red traffic light in the center twice, and at the intersection with the entrance on November 7, the police were directing traffic. Have you been waiting for me for a long time?
While waiting for her answer, he placed a chaste kiss on her cheek and grabbed her by the waist, leading her to the door on the right.
- Good evening, Mr. Sami. I've been here for a few minutes, hoping you're not late, because my toes are already cold.
His mouth arched into a mischievous smile that accentuated the beautiful features of his face and betrayed his perfect teeth. Looking at her with obvious amusement, he helps her into the right seat, then bypasses the car at the front and gets behind the wheel.
Maya turned her gaze to him and could read a trace of innocence on his face and eyes. At that moment she felt as if she had discovered the child in him.
Bogdan moved a little closer to her and smiled again.
-Then I suppose your toes need special care to avoid frostbite? Tell me Maya, what do you want to warm up first? Is it ... the forehead? Nose ? Cheeks? Or maybe...mouth?
As he mentioned every particle of her beautiful face, he kissed her gently, right there. When it was her mouth's turn, his eyes stopped to stare at her full lips. Then his mouth approached hers, for what she thought was a chaste kiss, like the earlier one. But she was wrong. His tongue penetrated the softness of her mouth, exploring hungry but gentle at the same time. She has been kissed before, but never in the same way. It was an intense, eager, fiery kiss, which aroused in her undiscovered emotions.
He cupped her face as she held him by the neck. The kiss continued to intensify, both wishing it wouldn't stop. And when Maya felt she wanted even more, he stopped. He pulled her face slightly away from his and kissed her protectively on the forehead.
- Have you warmed up?
- Warmed up?
It was more like boiling in her own juice. She was nervous that Bogdan allowed himself to kiss her so suddenly, but even more nervous because he stopped.
- Yes, I warmed up.
- I'm glad. Now, I think it's time to go to the cafe.
It seemed to Maya that more than thirty minutes had passed before they arrived in front of the Moccha Flavor cafe.
The place located at the ground floor of the block on the corner of the street leading to the Municipal Hospital, seemed to be taken from American movies, emanating warmth and safety to anyone who crossed the threshold. The walls of a dark cherry gave you the impression that you were in a small room. A solid wood bar seemed to monopolize the place in terms of furniture, with only four tables and a few chairs in sight. The walls were full with paintings, most of which were made of coffee beans. On the front wall was painted a message, visible to anyone who enters the place: "this is the place where everything is better." To the right of the entrance, on the opposite side of the bar, was a wall that separated a few compartments from the rest of the room.
Bogdan and Maya were taken to one of the booths and then allowed to enjoy their ordered coffee, tea and cakes. They were sitting on opposite sides of the table, so that they could better see each other. Finally, Bogdan took her hand in his and brought it to his lips, placing a warm kiss on the back of her palm.
It was enough to make Maya feel embarrassed. Just a kiss on the back of his hand and she already felt something like butterflies in her stomach. Butterflies ? She was also in love when she was about ten years old, by one of the bodyguards in charge of protecting her and
Nicholas, but it hasn't happened to her since. It was nice and a little weird at the same time. She decided to allow this feelings and without any hesitation she addressed Bogdan:
- I could easily fall in love with you.
He put his hand back on the table.
- Why do you say that ?
- When you kissed me. I felt something… intense. And I'm thinking about whether to let go of my feelings or not. Are you serious ?
- Maya, Maya. I brought you here so we can get to know each other better. If I didn't want to meet you, to know what kind of person you are, do you think I would invite you? Or, to rephrase, do you think that if I hadn't been interested in you, I would have kissed you as I obviously did?
- I do not know what to say. We just met.
- Yes, pretty girl. It's true. And yet, when I first saw you, I knew instantly that I wanted to be with you, to be able to walk hand in hand and be proud of my Barbie. Something was telling me I should at least try.
- I'd like that. Are you kissing me again?
Then he leaned over her, and kissed her so eagerly that the butterflies from her stomach started to fly inside. Hundreds, thousands. She could feel an uncontrolled beating of their wings from the inside, driving her completely crazy. That was the moment when she realized what had actually happened: she fell in love with him. And what he told her, the protective way he kissed her forehead and the passionate kisses showed her that he had no hidden intentions. He really wanted to know her better.
