Luc did not believe me and walked into the bedroom drying his hair with a towel, and not wearing a towel around him. Mom cleared her throat, making Luc look up bewildered. He grabbed his towel to cover himself and mom and I burst out into fits of laughter.
“A bit late, don’t you think Luc?” Mom gave him her signature amused smile.
“Moon goddess!” He whispered.
“Never mind that.” She dismissed whatever he was going to say. “I just came to tell you I chose you for my daughter because I know you will treat her right.” Mom walked over to me, stroked my cheek and looked into my ocean blue eyes, and it hit me why my eyes were so blue. “She is my jewel and if you hurt her, I will make sure you suffer a tortured death for eternity.” She looked back at him and smiled.
