Second Chances

  It’s been days since Calie started her volunteer work in the orphanage. She enjoyed it and it made her less sad. She and Kelly also had gotten close, and now she’s about to invite her to join the Elites.

  After Calie saw Ivan get inside his classroom, she went to find Kelly. She found her getting all the kids into their classroom. Calie approached the she-wolf and greeted her.

“Hey!”Kelly chirped.

“So what are we going to do today?”Calie asked.

“Well nothing much since the orphanage has a few more hands now.”Kelly answered as they both walked their way out of the school building.

“Really?”

“Yep, there are new batch of volunteers and they covered almost all of the work there.”Kelly said.

“That’s good then.”Calie said.

“The budget has been approved too. I know you have something to do with so thank you. The kids are going to be so happy now that they have budget for toys too.”Kelly told her.

“So you have more free time.”

“Yeah I guess. And now I don’t know what I should do.”Kelly said.

  They stopped walking just right by the school entrance.

“How about I give you something to be busy with?”Calie asked and Kelly looked confused.

“Like what? What is it?”Kelly asked.

  Calie sighed and looked at Kelly.

“I’ve seen how you fought those rogues. I’ve seen how talented kind of warrior you are Kelly.”Calie said, and then Kelly looked like she figured it out.

“Don’t worry. I’ll be going back to training now that I have more time in my hands, and fighting those rogues that on time made me miss training.”Kelly said smiling.

“Kelly I don’t want you to go back to training with the pack warriors.”Calie said and Kelly furrowed her eyebrows.

“What? Why?”Kelly asked the white haired princess.

“Because I want you to train for the Elites.”Calie answered, and Kelly was dumbfounded with what she heard.

“You heard me. The council is looking for new recruits, and there will be a selection. I want you to join.”Calie said.

  Kelly gaped at Calie.

“Are you insane? The Elites?! They are the top dogs! The best of the best in the kingdom! I cannot join them!”Kelly exclaimed and began hyperventilating.

  Calie grabbed unto Kelly’s arm.

“Listen to me calm down. Breathe slowly, inhale, and exhale.”She told Kelly.

  Kelly did what she was told, and then she went to sit on the school entrance’s stairs.

“I can’t do it. I barely train as a regular pack warrior, what made you so sure that I can train with the elites!”Kelly exclaimed.

  Calie sighed and sat beside Kelly.

“You can and you will. I’ve seen you fight and you have the skills and you have the courage. You have that speed which is your edge. I know you belong with the Elites. Besides, I already signed up your name. All you have to do is show up in the council building this Saturday morning.”Calie said, and Kelly looked at her with wide eyes.

“You what?!”

  Calie stood up and looked at Kelly.

“I’ll see you on Saturday, 8 o’clock in the morning sharp.”Calie said smirking, and then she left Kelly dumbfounded.

  Saturday morning and Calie went to the Council building. She went straight to the Elites office where Zab was waiting for her.

“Great you’re here.”Zab said.

“I have someone I want to recruit.”Calie said.

“Mom told me about her.”Zab paused and drank her coffee.

“I did a little background check and she’s from a long line of loyal pack warriors. I also saw one that was council warrior. She has an impressive lineage, but does she have it takes to be an Elite? To kill?”Zab said.

“You can be the judge of that – if she comes.”Calie said.

   Calie slumped on the couch and Zab’s secretary served her some coffee. Then Zack came in the office with his iPad and cup of coffee.

“It’s nice of you to finally join us boss.”Zack said.

“Shut up.”Calie grumbled, and took a sip of her coffee.

“The recruitment room is ready and we have five recruits –“

“Six.”Calie cut off Zack.

  Zack looked at Calie.

“Six?”He asked.

“She has her own recruit.”Zab said.

“Where is she or he?”Zack asked, and Zab shrugged her shoulders.

“Let’s just go there while I pray she show up.”Calie said, getting up from the couch and brought her cup of coffee with her as she left the office. Zack and Zab looked at each other and followed her with their stuff.

  Meanwhile in the Council building’s entrance, Kelly just came in and she’s still contemplating if she’s going in and try out or not. It’s her first time inside the Council building, and she’s nervous as hell.

“Why am I even here?”She mumbled to herself, and turned around and walked towards the door. But stopped and turned around again.

“Should I do this? Am I ready for this?”She asked herself.

  Then she felt her wolf perked up. Something that her wolf hasn’t done since the day their mate died.

‘Kana? What’s up?’She asked her wolf.

‘I feel something.’Kana, Kelly’s wolf said. And then she suddenly took over Kelly’s body.

  Kana walked further in the building and as if she was looking for something. That feeling led her towards the left wing of the building, in front of a huge two wooden doors. And then Kelly once again regained her control and was confused as to why her wolf brought her towards that door.

‘Go in.’Kana told her human.

‘Why?’Kelly asked.

‘Just go!’

  Kelly sighed and pushed the wooden door open and came in. But as she walked right in, she was rooted on the spot when she saw the two princesses with other people, all looking at her.

  When Calie saw Kelly she smiled.

“Glad you could join us Kelly.”Calie said.

“What?”Kelly asked then she looked around and everyone’s eyes were on her. But one pair of eyes that made her feels something strange.

  Calie was about to walk towards Kelly when Zab stopped her. Calie looked at her sister, and asked.

“What?”

“Do not interfere.”Zab said.

  Then they saw Zack approach Kelly. Zab already knew, but Calie is a bit confused. Kelly was confused too, especially when the tall, handsome man began walking towards her. He wolf was going crazy in her mind and the last time Kana was like that was when they first met their mate.

  Zack couldn’t believe it. After years of waiting and searching, she’ll just barge into the room full of recruits. Her beautiful light brown shoulder length hair compliments her brown eyes that somehow remind Zack of hot coco. He made her way towards her and held his hand out.

“Hi, my name is Zack.”

  Zack introduced himself while staring at her eyes.

“Kelly.”Kelly said, and put her hand on his.

  The moment their skin touches, a spark zapped them making them pull away their hands. Kelly looked at her hands and then to Zack with wide eyes.

“It can’t be...”She mumbled.

‘Yes it can!’ Kana screamed inside her head.

  Zack gave her a small smile.

“I guess you are shocked.”He said.

“Shocked? That’s an understatement!”Kelly exclaimed still looking at Zack with her doe eyes.

“Second chance mates are rare. Treasure it.”Zab said.

  Kelly and Zack looked at Zab, and that’s the only time Calie realized it. Zack is Kelly’s second chance mate.

“Second chance?”Zack asked when he turned back to Kelly.

  Kelly looked down; she’s confused, nervous and scared. Not all second chance mates are good to their mates. Some were rejected since their second chance mate said they are hand me downs. And she’s scared to be rejected, her wolf is already attached. If she gets rejected, her wolf might not make it and die in heartbreak.

“You must be a strong woman to be able to continue to live after losing your other half.”Zack said, and Kelly looked at him.

  Kelly was confused as to why he was smiling at her.

“I am looking forward to spending the eternity with you, mate.”
