The Other Chosen One

(Zehra POV) (18 years old) What is happening? Where am I? I was in an unknown place. It looked beautiful and unreal. I had never seen such a perfect blue sky. The flowers looked like they were glowing. An unknown but somewhat familiar feeling filled me. ‘You are finally 18’ a voice rose but there was no one around. “Who is there?” ‘Be strong my dear. Your wish will finally come true. Follow your heart and never back down. Shine bright and never lose hope’ The voice faded ignoring my question. But soon after a loud sound filled around me. It was like someone was banging inside my head. “Princess!! Princess wake up! Quickly!” A familiar voice rose making me frown. The noise got more and more louder, and I felt like it was banging on my head. “Stop it…. ” I grunted but the noise only got bigger. I gasped as I opened my eyes. I was back in my room, sweating and panting like crazy. “Princess! Wake up! Please… hurry!” “What the hell is going on” I grunted, getting up. “I am coming!” I shouted lazily walking towards the door. I opened it, squinting at the bright light from the hallway. “You know, Nanny. I know it's my 18th birthday and all but isn’t waking me up 4 in the morning too much?” My question was left unanswered as my nanny looked at me with a worried face. I knew instantly something was wrong. “What is it? You look pale. Are you ok?” “My.... my princess.” Her voice was shaky. “I-I…I don’t know what is going to happen now” My heart dropped as she started to cry. “Dad…. Is dad, ok?” Without even waiting a second, I rush towards my father’s room. My father’s health right now is not in a good state. He already had two attacks and even though he is now much better, I am terrified if it will happen again. As I ran towards his bedroom, I stopped at the crowd in my sister’s bedroom. There were a lot of voices coming as well. “What is going on?” I asked as the maids turned towards me. They looked shocked and I could see the awkwardness in their faces. It was as if they were pitying me. I swiftly walked past them into my sister’s room. “What happened?” I asked again. My eyes immediately fell on my family. My sister was on the bed crying while both my parents were trying to calm her down. I had sensed it earlier but now that I entered the room some kind of weird smell filled the room. The smell was making me nauseous, and I felt chills going down my spine. Something was not right. “Zehra!” my mother’s eyes widened as she looked at me. She then looked at her husband who, for some reason, didn’t look into my eyes. “What is happening Mom” “Sister!” Hella shouted bursting into tears. “Sister, I don’t know what happened! I was sleeping and I felt weird and… and” She raised her hand staring at it. My eyes widened as a light formed on the palm of her hands. “I…. I think I am the prophecy holder” ……………………………………… My parents and I were silent as we sat in my father’s office. No one touched the tea the maids had prepared. My sister, although she wanted to come, had to stay behind because my father claimed she should sleep after everything that happened. But I knew it was because he wanted to talk to me alone. What happened today will completely alter everything that happened in my life and it’s a huge thing. “Dad, I am okay,” I said as I saw him tapping his right foot on the ground. Both of them were silent, probably feeling guilty. I can’t lie when I say I am sad and shocked at the same time. All my life I was brought up being treated as the one who is blessed by the goddess but now everything is going to change. But in all honesty, there is nothing I can do. “I am sorry” Father muttered making me sigh. I got up from my sofa and walked towards them. I smiled and sat in the middle of them, holding both their hands. “For what? This is something out of our hands, Dad. We didn’t know this would happen and besides it's our little Hella, we should be happy for her.” Father had to send a messenger in the middle of the night to the palace to inform the news. In the morning, the royals demanded the presence of my family. I felt like I was participating in some death funeral. Even though I tried to act like I was fine with this, people around me walked on eggshells. When the royal carriage arrived, the four of us made our way to the royal palace. Although I tried to act calm, Hella’s maid was starting to get on my nerves because her madam had received the Goddess's blessing. We were directly taken to the throne room. My family and I bowed our heads as the king, queen and the crown prince sat on their throne, their head raised in pride. “Is it true?” the king asked as his eyes went to Hella. “Is she the chosen blessed one?” “Yes, Your Majesty. Our youngest daughter is the blessed one” my father replied as the king’s eyes went to me. “hmm I see,” he said nodding his head. “Then we have no other choice. We will have to change everything we arranged” My body stiffened as he said that. His face was void as he said those words. “We will start with shifting the position of the crown princess to Lady Hella” “What?!” my father shouted shocked. My eyes widened as those words came out of his mouth. “T-then…” my voice stuttered as I looked at Killian. His head was low as if he couldn’t face me. “I am sorry Lady Zehra” the queen finally spoke as I looked at her. “You are the perfect daughter in law I wished for but things don’t always fall the way we want” “Lady Hella will marry my son Killian, Lady Zehra. She is the chosen one” Even my parents were at a loss for words. They didn’t know what to say. My father looked furious while my mother seemed like she would burst into tears at any moment. “Don’t worry, my dear little child. You are a wonderful lady with great talent and pride. We will surely find a man that fits your taste” “Your majesty, Prince Killian and I are in love. Surely the relationship was fixed by you but we have grown close and this isn’t something we can throw away.” That was right. Killian and I are in love. After that event with the dragon prince, both of us had a huge fight. But after that fight, we opened up and talked things through, and after that, our relationship started to flourish. We became strong and we became obsessed. We won't break off our love because of this very petty reason…. Right? I expected my fiancé to back me, tell them I am his and his only but nothing came out. He only looked up at me before shaking his head. Tears filled my eyes. I know will lose everything after I worked hard to be perfect in every role but him? I thought he would never let go of me. I thought everything we had was true. Was everything we had, just an act? My whole body was starting to shiver and I felt dizzy. “Zehra” my mother called, worriedly, wrapping her hand around my shoulder. “I… I need some air” I didn’t even wait for permission, I didn’t even wait for any reply. I just ran out of the throne room desperate to get away from this mess.
