CHAPTER THREE The following morning the Dowager Countess sent her lady’s maid to several of the most prestigious shops in Bond Street. She instructed them to bring clothes that were the smartest and naturally the most expensive to her house for a debutante. She did not say who they were for, although she felt certain that everyone would be extremely curious. There would certainly be a great deal of interest and speculation as to who was the new debutante to whom they had not sold anything already. When they arrived with large dressing cases packed to the brim with endless dresses, Salvia was speechless.
