CHAPTER SIXIt was Saturday morning before the Viscount and Salvia could get away. They were besieged by people who, curious about their engagement were determined first to see the bride and then to congratulate the Viscount. Nearly every one of them said to him, “We were certain that you would be a bachelor for the rest of your life, Charles, but now you have proved us wrong.” The Viscount just smiled at them. They went away thinking he must be very much in love and it was not in the least surprising considering how pretty and enchanting the girl was.
