~Dawn~
It was at least another thirty minutes before the other morons finished correcting the code, well, two of them did, the third was never brought back to the room where I had been sitting sipping coffee for half an hour. Riley came in, a wide smile on his face as his eyes landed on me. “Sometimes, coders can become overly confident. That was not only a test of your abilities, but also your attention to detail and perseverance.” I could not help but hide a smile at his words, thinking about how frustrated the others had gotten over a simple bit of code. “We are now going to start the one to one interviews.”
Riley called on one of the two remaining guys, leaving the room with him. The other came and sat beside me, looking me up and down as if to measure me up. “Do we have a problem?” I asked, raising my brow at him. If only he knew who or what I was, he would know that it would take a lot more to scare me than that. Human males were no better than wolves, needing to feel in charge and powerful, but they did not possess the same dominance as them and so my wolf felt free to snarl at the way he looked at me like I was less than he was just because I did not possess a c**k.
“I was just wondering if you were going to spread your legs for the interviewer to get the job, or if you were just a d**k tease.” He chuckled, staring down my top at the small amount of breast I had on show.
“Oh I don’t need to do anything like that to get the job. You might want to think about it though, love after your performance in the coding section.” I retorted, watching with an internal smile at the way his face fell and his eyes bulged slightly with anger. I could not help but find it amusing that he had gone from finding me hot to seeing me as the enemy, obviously not expecting for me to outperform him. Typical male ego getting in the way of seeing that he was bested by a girl.
It must have only been about five minutes before Riley came back and took mr.Sexist pig out for his interview, sending me a sneer over his shoulder as he exited the room. I made a tutting sound, crossing my arms and rolling my eyes. Did I expect it to be any different? Not really, but after Trev’s words about the way I looked I expected that to hold me back, not the fact I was a girl. Well, maybe I expected it to hold me back a little bit, but this was the f*****g 21st century, computers are everywhere and if you don’t know what you are doing with one you are limited in what you are able to do, so surely my gentiles should not make a difference when it comes to things like that.
Time ticked on, five minutes, ten minutes, twenty minutes. Jesus Christ, there was no way that fucker was going to get the job over me. I outshone the others by a mile in the coding section. I don’t know why I became so agitated by it, pushing to my feet and starting to pace back and forth in the room. It was not just that there was the future of all shifter kind hanging on this, it was also my personal pride now.
After half an hour, the door opened and Riley stood there smiling, looking me up and down once more. “We are ready for you now Dawn.” I nodded my head, grabbing my handbag from the chair where I had left it and walking out behind him. We walked past the line of cubicles, Riley opening a door at the far end and allowing me inside first. He gestured to a chair which I took before he walked around the large desk in there and sat at the other side.
“I was expecting a line of interviewers, not just you.” I stated, picturing it to be like on dragon’s den where everyone on the panel asks different questions whilst looking at me dubiously.
Riley laughed slightly. “I don’t think all that is necessary.”
I rolled my eyes again at that, crossing my arms defensively. “Why? Because I already don’t have the job?” I hissed. “If you are giving it to that smarmy fucker who you interviewed before me it is a complete hash. He is a f*****g i***t that couldn’t code a side-scrolling computer game, never mind a database secure enough to stand up to Tallen Corp standards. You will be beached in under a month with his skill level and incompetence.”
Riley held up his hand, bringing my ramblings to a stop. “Dawn, he didn’t get the job.” He chuckled. “His father is on the board of directors and so I had to be seen to give him a fair shot, but you are right. His coding was slow and subpar, not even finishing the coding section but I still had to interview him.” I relaxed slightly, my cheeks turning slightly pink at my inappropriate outburst. Great, if I hadn’t stuffed it up before I sure as s**t had now. Riley smiled. “You don’t hold back when it comes to what is on your mind.” I winced slightly, wishing that that was not true, but lately it had been. I didn’t know if it was being away from my pack, or being so close to Trev with him being so close, but my wolf was on edge, making me on edge too. “You wear your individuality on the outside, showing your humour and eccentricities for all to see. I like that.”
I smiled slightly, feeling more at ease given that the thing I was worried about was not being held against me. He asked me a few questions about past experiences and work, remembering the back story that Nick had made for me and had created a paper trail and references for, I told him about working at a small firm that had to make cutbacks meaning that I was let go, my struggle to find work where we were living and then moving to the area in hopes of finding work here.
“We?” Riley asked with a raised brow.
“Me and my boyfriend, Trev.” I answered, my wolf puffing up her chest with pride, even though it was not true, no matter how much the two of us wished it was. She was just as attached as I was, especially after our run on the blood pack’s territory. She liked how attentive he was to her, his approval of her submission, and his playfulness with her. I shook my head slightly, trying to get the thought of him out of my mind while I was still in the interview, knowing that I would have to go back to him soon enough and that was hard as it was.
Riley nodded his head, seeming to think that I was making Trev up in my mind as a cover. “Well, I think that is all.” He said, shuffling the papers on his desk. “And, as long as your references pan out, I would be pleased to offer you a position here at Tallen Corp.”
“Really?” I asked, still slightly shocked that I was not being directed to the front door.
“Really.” Riley smirked. “Is tomorrow too soon for you to start?”
“Not at all.” I quickly answered, a smile on my own face now.
“Good.” He got to his feet, indicating that I should do the same before offering me his hand. “It is going to be a pleasure working with a… mind such as yours.” He said as I shook his hand, his eyes sliding down to my breasts as he said that making me feel uncomfortable again. As he walked me out of the small office back to the elevators he walked a little too close for comfort and suddenly the fact that I had got the job was no longer such the joy it had been. “Be here at seven thirty for a small orientation before you get down to business.”
“Thank you Mr.Bennett.” I quickly said as the elevator doors opened and I jumped on.
“Oh Dawn, call me Riley.” He drawled as the doors closed on his smirking face, making an uneasy shiver run down my spine.
~Trev~
How long did it take to do one f*****g interview? I should have taken her there, I should have insisted that this argument between us was over and that she had to let me take her to the interview. Why did I let her go on her own when I knew it was dangerous? But this whole thing was dangerous, and me and my wolf had to get used to the idea that she would not be in the next room to us twenty four seven.
The scent that had been driving me insane was dissipating slightly, making me realise how much I had come to crave it. It was like a sweet drug and I was definitely addicted. I sat on the sofa, bringing one of the cushions to my nose and taking a deep intake of breath, allowing her scent to calm me slightly, as if she was back here by my side. I wished that she would decide to give up on sleeping on the sofa and come and lie in bed with me. The thought of waking up to her beautiful face by my side brought a small smile to my face.
But then, Nick’s voice rang out in my head. Would I be able to lie down beside her and keep my hands off her delectable body? Be so close to the source of the scent that I craved and not take one taste to see if she tasted as sweet as he smelled? And if I took just one taste, would I be able to hold myself back from taking another, and another and a bite. My wolf growled with approval at the thought, the thought of sinking my teeth into her tender flesh and branding her as mine forever. My c**k swelled in my pants, making me groan slightly. Despite the fact that self gratification was not my thing, I had found the need to do it more and more just to keep myself under control, waiting until Dawn was watching TV and then using the sound to drown out my hisses of pleasure as I imagined her on her knees, taking each inch of my c**k into that delicious mouth of hers. Her rosy cheeks hollowing as she sucks me, hard. Me hiking up one of her short and teasing skirts to reveal her tiny peach and plunging into her depths as her cries of pleasure fill the air.
My hand went down to the painful bulging in my pants, freeing myself as I took another sniff of her cushion, growling slightly as I wrapped my hand around my hard c**k. She was driving me insane, this whole thing was driving me insane. I heard the ding of the elevator down the hall and froze, listening as the footsteps approached our apartment. s**t.
I got to my feet, throwing the cushion back down beside me as I made a quick break for the bathroom, closing the door behind me with a slam just as I heard the door open and Dawn’s footsteps as she walked back inside, throwing her keys on the side. I listened as she let out a heavy sigh and slumped onto the sofa, turning on the TV and starting to hop through the channels.
I looked down at my still hard member, standing to attention even more at the thought of what it desired being so close by. I turned on the shower, pulling off the rest of my clothes before getting under the cold spray, my hand going back to it and sliding up and down its length. Dawn was going to be the death of me.
