“Sir, Avery has returned home with Lucas and Nathan.” The guard reports to me.
I nod, “good work.” I praise him. “Keep it up.”
He smiles.
“I will increase your pay just like I promised,” I inform him. His smile grows wider at my promise. I needed more loyal guards like him around me. Even my own children refused to tell me that my unmarried daughter left home without giving word to anyone.
That girl was beginning to cause problems for me but I would deal with her when the time was right.
For now, I was still distracted by something else.
So far, Lucas Lance Vinci has proven to be a good son-in-law. He was listening to my instructions better than my own son did.
