Lyra felt really stupid about the entire thing. It was the first time that she had to lie to her best friend about something, and she didn’t like it. Lyra had never lied to Bianca about anything. Their friendship had always been based on truth.
Not that they had many secrets. Both Lyra and Bianca lived fairly simple lives in that regard. Whenever one of them liked a boy, they couldn’t wait to tell each other. Neither of them had a deep and dark family secret or anything like that.
