Hali’s POV My heart constricts at the pain in Gage’s eyes, this is the second time he’s mentioned his mother’s passing and I want to ask about her but I’m not sure if it’s my place. ‘You sound like you loved her a lot’ I say, keeping the conversation neutral, deciding that if the soldier wants to tell me about his mother, he will do so.
