Gage’s POV As we move further into my mother’s family cabin, I watch Hali as she takes in every single part of the house. Her fingers run over the back of the couch lovingly before she walks into the kitchen, placing her bag on the kitchen table and heading straight to the door that leads out back and down to the lake. As I follow her, my gaze finds the spot on the floor that was not so long ago, covered in the blood of my stepsister. The image of my brother’s broken form, kneeling next to her lifeless body slams into me and I have to grab the back of the couch to steady myself.
