Alicia POV
After calling Amber I went out of my hotel room and took the elevator down.
Once outside I took a taxi and there was this girl standing there waiting for a taxi. She approached me and asked if I could give the cab, that she is late for her meeting and her boss will kill her if she is late.
"We can share it if you want because I'm also going to a meet at Luther King’s company” I state "oh that will be great because I'm also going there" she smiles. We both enter the cab.
"so... Are you here with your boss too or are you the boss?" she questions me with hesitation "oh...well my miss had some family emergency so here alone, by the way, my name is Alicia," I tell her "oh sorry I'm so nervous..that I forgot to introduce myself my name is Mary, and I work under Julie Luther King as her assistant but since she not her today she tells me to act as a representative of our branch.
And this is the first time that I have come here to the annual meeting you know she usually comes alone..." she smiles nervously.
"Well this is my first time too, and I work with Nick Torres as his assistant and I'm also representing our branch so know what you mean" I smile back hoping to smooth her. "oh you are the famous Alicia that my boss won't stop talking about huh...well it nice to meet you" I look shocked
"I didn't know that Julie likes to talk about me to people but yet that’s. Nice to meet you too. By the way, try to take a deep breath. It will help when you are nervous plus we are just telling them what we do at work, not more or less" I said, hoping to help her. She seems like a person and I can see myself being friends with her.
She smiled and we had small talks until we arrived at the company and let me tell you it's beautiful. It's a tall building with all glass that is stunning from the outside that gets everyone’s attention. Once inside I was stunned it was more beautiful than the building that works at even though it's the same company this one is double the building I work at.
We went straight to the reception and asked where the meeting will be held. The receptionist looks young maybe in her late twenties but she looks great. "Hi, we're here for that Annual Meeting but we don't know where to go, so you should tell us," I said with a friendly smile on my face. She looks at us up to down then just rolls her eyes at us like we're less than human. I mean who does that never mind "in your right take the elevator to the top floor, you will know when you get there" she said with a bored tone. We walk to the elevator without a thank you if she thought that she’s the only one that can be sassy then she thought wrong.
"How rude of her to act as if we had killed her cat or something," I told Mary, she starts laughing. I was mad but I also ended up laughing. We got to the top floor and there were other branches, some with their assistants or are alone; I know some of them. Mark Wilson head of the communication branch walks to me "Alicia long time no see" Mark said with a teasing voice. "Well, I could say the same to you Mark" I smile.
Mark is a tall and handsome guy, with stormy grey eyes and fair skin. He looks so calm at the time. Mark asked me out a few months ago when I first met him at a conference that he had with my boss, but I said no of course because I don't mix work with pleasure it will complicate things. And I don't want my life to be complicated. I had enough of that at school. But anyway back to the present "oh you know why I did reach out you know, you broke my heart" he acts like he's hurt. "Well, you know why to do that, I don't mix business with pleasure so.. Sorry" I smile and tap his shoulder. Suddenly, Mary clears her throat and looks at me then Mark.
"I even forgot this is Mary, she’s Julie’s assistant. Mary, Mark is the head of the communication branch" I introduce them and they shake hands after a while we get in the conference room and take the site that is assigned to us. My name is on the left side of Mr. King who will be joining any minute now and all the women are talking about him. I on the other hand just want to finish this meeting and go back to New York City. I can’t stand all the eyes that are on me ever since we walked in. It's like they are not even ashamed of looking at me like that and I hate it. I don't know why I agree to wear this, oh wait because my so-called best friend put it in my suitcase note to self: never let her pack for me again.
Suddenly, everyone is silent and they all stand. I was confused for a moment until I heard a shoe song and felt strange for a moment. That’s when I heard a deep dominant and powerful voice that got my breath caught in my throat " have a sit everyone" I turned my head and saw the most beautiful man I ever met in my life. Cut it out girl remember he is a player to change women like clockwork. But deep down I know that I’m a goner already. He was staring at me with that piercing blue eyes and it's like I’m compelled or something because I couldn't look away but I know I have to so I did. But I could feel his eyes on me, it's like he's staring through me and it's so uncomfortable.
After a while, he clears his throat and starts introducing himself and went on and one it’s boring and I was unimpressed. I guess he notices so I tell him to present first which in the beginning I was nervous but after that, it was like a piece of cake I’m used to being in front of a big crowd so it was easy. Once finished they had no questions left to ask like they said go big or go home.
We spent another hour in the meeting and let me tell you it was boring and I couldn't wait to get to the hotel and have a nice warm bath. All this was exhausting, I know it’s an irony coming from some who work as an assistant but what you don’t know is that I'm also a singer and little dancing. I work part time on Broadway shows and all those long meetings are just boring. Lucky this is the last presentation and we will be done. After 30 minutes or so Mr. King announced that the meeting is over, and he wants us to bring a copy of our presentation to his office by Monday. Which i can’t because i have to go to New York for some shows coming up.
But anyway, I’m going to give him mine right now, good thing that I have it with me. So I could go home early and practice for the show.
