Jaimee
The moment I entered our classroom, everyone went still and quiet. They are all looking at me. I can tell that around 95% of this class are vampires base on their white flawless skin and bright blue eyes.
Aside from me, I can see four more non vampire students. All sitting on the far corners of the class.
I ignored their stares and just went towards where my friends are sitting, at the very back of the class.
"I can hear your heartbeat like a drum." Lana said while I was taking a seat beside Matt.
Lana was sitting next to a quiet vampire girl who has her nose stuck in a book.
"Just don't mind it." I told her.
"I can't. The whole class can hear it and they can also smell the rush of your blood in your veins. Your nervousness is making everyone hungry." She said and it made me gulp.
"Don't mind them girl." Matt whispered to me.
I nodded and took a several deep breaths to calm myself. Then I noticed the other non-vampire students.
"Hey Matt, are there other humans in this class?" I asked Matt.
Matt looked around.
"Yeah. There are three humans, including you. And we also have one werewolf and one shifter." Matt said.
"Werewolf? Shifter? Here in the vampire kingdom?" I asked.
"Apparently, according to my dad some werewolves are here as exchange students since they are working on a treaty with our kingdom." Lana explained.
"That goes with the shifters too." Matt added.
"How about the other humans?" I asked.
"I am not really sure, but base on their demeanor, they are not like you." Matt answered.
"What do you mean?"
"You my dear friend is here as a student and as our friend. While the other two are here as a student/snack." Lana explained.
I clenched my fist with what she said. These vampires only see us humans as food and slave. If what Lana said is true, the other humans are just here because their masters brought them here as a slave and snack. The thought made me sick. Those vampires made me sick.
When the class started I can still feel the hatred towards those vampires. I can barely focus on the lesson, and our teacher isn't giving me the time of the day.
**************
During lunch break, we went to the cafeteria and Matt offered to get us food while Lana and I look for a table. Everywhere else is full except for the table occupied by two students. One of them is the shifter from our class. I pulled Lana and went towards their table.
"Hi. Can we share your table?" I asked them.
They looked at us then nodded slowly.
"Thanks."
Lana and I took a sit.
"I hope you guys don't mind. Everywhere else is full." Lana said.
Then Matt appeared with a tray of food, and sat beside me.
"Well, well. Who is this hottie?" Matt asked eyeing the boy beside our classmate.
"I'm Jaimee. These are friends, Lana and Matt. I believe we are classmates!" I introduced myself and my friends.
Our classmate, the female shifter with strawberry blonde curly hair gave us a slight smile.
"I'm Diana, and this is my brother Damon." She said.
"Nice to meet you." Matt purred looking at Damon who gave him an awkward smile.
"Are you exchange students too?" Lana asked.
"Yeah. How did you know?" Diana asked back.
"My dad mentioned that there will be some exchange students from other kingdoms, starting senior year here."Lana explained.
"You're noble vampires." Damon paused then he eyed me.
"Excuse my words but, are you their blood slave?" Damon asked me.
Lana slammed her hand on the table.
"For your information shifter boy, Jaimee is my best friend and not some walking lunchbox!" Lana growled at him.
Lana may look sweet and cheery girl but she actually has the shortest temper among us.
Damon raised his arms as if he surrenders.
"Unlike other humans here, Jaimee is actually our friend. Yes she does work for Lana's family, but I assure you she was not treated like the other humans." Matt added.
The shifter siblings looked at me for some sort of confirmation.
"That is true. I am really lucky to be working under the Ramiro family. They treat us like family there." I told them.
"Ramiro family? If I'm not mistaken, it's one of the oldest noble families here in Aragon." Damon said.
Lana huffed and took a bite of her sandwich, which made Damon smirk.
"I'm glad to know that not every vampire is the same." Damon said.
"Of course! That would be a disaster! Their fashion sense is so nuh uh." Matt said.
"Matt, I don't think Damon meant it like that." I told Matt.
"I know that honey, but still!" Matt exclaimed and it made me and Diana giggle, while Lana is still scowling at Damon.
We were eating when we heard a loud crash. We turned around to see a human girl on the cafeteria floor, crying and food scattered around her or on her.
"Ugh this drama again." Lana grumbled.
"What is happening?" Diana asked.
Lana pointed her straw towards the brunette standing in front of the crying human girl.
"That is Vera Falicier. School's queen b***h that thinks with her boobs rather than her brain. She acts high and mighty just because she's the daughter of one of the council members. She treats her humans lower than dirt. She simply doesn't care of anything else but herself." Lana explained.
The next scene we saw was the human girl being slapped and kicked repeatedly. Her strawberry blonde hair is slowly turning pink. With how vampires' noses flared I can tell that her head is bleeding.
I clenched my fist. This is something I can't really stomach. I stood up and marched towards them, ignoring the calls of my friends.
Vera was about to kick the human on her head when I grabbed her foot and pushed her making her fall on the floor. The cafeteria boomed with laughter, but silenced when Vera stood up, fuming in anger while glaring at me.
"How dare you push me you little vermin?!" Vera growled.
"Is it really necessary to hurt this girl? What did she ever do to deserve such brutal treatment?" I asked her.
Vera let out chuckle.
"What did she do? She's the most useless slave! Can't even perform simple task! Now human, how dare you lay your hand on me?! Don't you know who I am?!" Vera exclaimed.
"No. Should I? You don't look like a celebrity to me." I said nonchalantly.
Vera hissed with her fangs barring on me.
"You insect! I will kill you and that useless piece of s**t! I own her and I can do whatever I want!" Vera hissed.
"Not really."
We turned to see Lana walking towards us. Vera glared Lana's way.
"Lana Ramiro, what is little pipsqueak want now?" Vera hissed at Lana.
"Vera, I am just letting you know that because of your brutal treatment towards this human girl, you no longer own her. " Lana said.
Vera furrowed her eyebrows and was about to speak when Matt beats her to it.
"Vera you must've forgotten that there is still a law regarding humans. Brutal treatment towards humans, especially in front of a crowd is strictly forbidden. By doing so, the vampire master is set to pay a fine, and will no longer be the owner of the abused human." Matt paused.
"You're a councilman's daughter don't tell me you are not aware of such law?" Matt added.
Vera was seething, both her fist were clenched as her fangs were barring on us.
"It's a stupid law! Humans are nothing but pieces of s**t that shall obey us superior beings and provide us food!" Vera growled.
"Such superior being that can't even follow simple rules. You only think highly of yourself just because daddy dearest backs you up." I snarled at her.
"Why you-"
Vera was cut of by some male voice that ooze with dominance.
"That is enough Vera. Rules are rules, and we should all follow it."
I tried to look where that voice was coming from but I failed. I don't know why, but that voice that held so much dominance that made everyone cower, but instead it made me more interested.
The bell rang and every student began to leave the cafeteria. Vera glared my way and walked towards me.
"I'll get you insect. And when I do, I'll make sure that there will be no witnesses." Vera hissed before leaving with her b***h squad.
Once they were gone, I immediately helped the human girl. I helped her to sit on one of the chairs.
"Are you alright?" I asked her.
"You shouldn't have done that. You just put yourself in danger. Humans should never talk back-"
I cut her off.
"I'm sorry but I cannot just sit back and watch her beat you to death. That is against my morals!"
"B-But she'll hurt you too. A-And I'm sure she'll hurt me even more when I go back to their manor." The human girl cried.
"Who told you anything about going back to their shithole?" Matt grumbled.
Everyone looked at him, including the shifter siblings that joined us.
"She abused you in front of everyone. That considered you a free human." Matt told the girl.
"B-but I don't have anywhere else to go. I just started in their manor a month ago."
Matt crouched down at her level.
"You look pretty with that strawberry blonde hair of yours, slender figure, and nice height. You seem smart too. You can be my new executive assistant." Matt said.
We all looked at him, gaping like a fish.
"Why would you need an assistant for?" Lana asked.
"I have tons of paperworks for the family business and it drives me crazy. Maybe she can be of help." Matt said.
I grinned and looked at the girl.
"I think that is great offer. Do not worry, Matt's family is not like those like Vera's." I told her.
"I guess so, and I think it's better than to live on the streets." She said.
"I'm Jaimee by the way." I introduced myself.
"Farah. My name is Farah." The girl shyly introduced herself."
"My name is Matt Grayson."
"Lana Ramiro."
After Matt and Lana introduced themselves, Farah's eyes widened, and then she bowed her head.
"My lord, my lady."
"Oh please. Don't do that. There is no need." Lana said.
"Yeah. Even if you work for me, you now belong to our little circle of friends." Matt said.
Farah nodded then she turned to the shifter siblings.
"My name is Diana, and this is my brother Damon. We're exchanged students from Harred Kingdom." Diana introduced themselves.
"They are new recruits too, in our small circle of friends." Matt said grinning.
Farah smiled, but she winced and clutched the side of her head. It's still bleeding.
"We better take you to the infirmary." I said.
"Come on." Damon said and then he grabbed Farah, and then he carried her bridal style.
We all went to the infirmary so Farah can get the medical attention she needed.
