(Brady POV) I stood in the shadows at the back, close to the trees. I watched in the hall earlier as she had been awarded the Elder rank. I watched her parents leave. I would never get to be introduced to them. I would never get the chance to ask for her fathers permission to take his daughter's hand in marriage. The world would never know that we had found each other.  And now by the bonfire, I listened as they told stories about her life. Her friends talked about her loves and her hates.
