Chapter 26

1126 Words
The wind blew and entered through the window of Beth’s room. As the younger sister of the ruler of their nation, Elisa, she tried her best to change her life before it was too late. When she was younger, living as one of the members of the royal family was tough for her. She did not really want to be one of them so she took advantage of her privilege. Beth was innocent and naive at that time and she did not know the consequences that she would get. The books are stacked on top of her table. There are a lot of papers scattered on the floor because of the wind. Beth did not notice it because she was too focused on writing on her tablet while scanning the other book on her left side. The room is full of silence and only the strong wind can be heard. It was strong this time so it caught Beth’s attention. Shivers traveled down on her spine when she felt the cold wind. “The negative energy,” she whispered while looking out the window with the curtains dancing along with the wind. She is alone in her room and no one is in her house because she is not in the modern castle with her older sister. Her house is a little bit far away from the modern castle and she does not spare to visit them nowadays because she prioritizes her job. Protecting the capital and the main estate is her job. It was tough for her at first but she managed to control the community and to make it stronger. “Something is odd in today's weather,” the woman said from the outside while she was walking with her friend. “The weather has always been like that,” responded the woman’s friend to her as she looked at the gloomy sky and dark clouds. Beth heard their conversations even though they are a little far away from her. She does not know why but she suddenly managed to manage the ability of hearing what someone said when she started to change her life. The Ruoculous was also injected to her and the blue blood runs through her veins which helped her to gain the ability. It was odd when she tried to use the ability because she can also sometimes hear everyone’s thoughts. While Beth was busy writing down notes on her tablet, she was interrupted when she felt like someone was in front of her house. The aura of the person does not have negativity so she knows that it is the mailman. She quickly went down and she held the doorknob. The creak of the door was loud for Beth because her hearing is sensitive. When she opened the door, the mailman was really there to give the recent news. “Good day! I am here for you to receive this recent news about the issue in the city gates,” said the mailman to her as he opened his bag and gave the letter to Beth. “Thank you and have a great day,” responded Beth when she received the letter. As soon as the mailman started to walk and Beth closed the door, she quickly went into her room again while opening the letter. When she opened it up, Beth sat down and read the letter. She wanted to see her sister after she read what was written on it. The issue was serious so she needed some help. It has also been a long time ago since she saw her sister so this is a great chance to meet her again. It is still early so she had time to prepare and to travel to the modern castle where her older sister is living. The strong wind welcomed Beth as soon as she opened the door so she held her blazer tightly. When Beth looked at the sky, she was shocked because the sky is so dark and gloomy. Their weather has really always been like this but this time, it is different and it is concerning. “Oh hey, Enjo!” shouted Beth to get Enjo’s attention. “Where is Elisa?” she asked. “Miss Beth, s-she is probably in her office,” he answered stutterly. When Enjo answered her, Beth thanked him and she walked on the hallway. Beth notices that Enjo is not acting normal but she does not have time to listen to his thoughts because she needs to look for her sister and discuss the matter. Her heels were echoing on the hallway as she walked on the white tiles. She looked down on her heels because she was irritated since her hearing is sensitive. The white tiles are so shiny like Beth can literally see her reflection but something caught her attention. There was something on the floor beside the door that was stained. It was reddish and it looked like blood. She stopped walking and bent down to take a closer look at it but one of their maids saw her and asked her if something was wrong. Beth shrugged it off and she said to the maid that nothing is wrong. “I did not expect to see you today,” welcomed Elisa when she saw her sister open the door after she said to come in. “We have to discuss something important in the city gates,” said Beth as she put down the papers and her tablet on the vacant table. Elisa swiveled her chair when she heard what her sister said. She was ready to listen to her because Beth looked so serious and she thinks that this matter is also serious since it is her sister’s first time to call for her help. While Beth is scanning the books and opening her tablet, she is just looking at her and admiring her. She could not help herself to reminisce about the past that Beth had. “I am so proud of you,” muttered Elisa as soon as Beth finished talking. Beth did not hear what she said, instead she was busy writing down the possible choices to solve their problem on her tablet while Elisa was still looking at her. The book on Beth’s right side is opened and being scanned by her. It is a history book about their nation and the people in their community. She really is serious about her job because she wanted to feel useful and she felt guilty for not doing her best when she was still young. “These are their possible reasons and their consequences in case,” concluded Beth as she tried to show to Elisa what she wrote on her tablet.
