Telling Annabel

Jake I woke up early the next day so I could make breakfast for Annabel. We’re skipping school and work today and going to the zoo. I’m making chocolate chip pancakes with banana slices and whipped cream. I toss some mixed berries and melon in sweet cream and crushed walnuts. Fresh squeezed orange juice sits on the table next to crispy bacon, eggs and toast. I hear Annabel shuffle down the hallway, bumping into the table before clomping down the stairs in her bunny slippers. She sits at the table rubbing her sleepy eyes. “Where’s the bacon?” Is her first question. I fix her a plate and she digs in to her food, shaking out the last bits of sleep. “Do you want to talk now daddy or after breakfast?” Annabel asks. “We’ll talk after munchkin,” I tell her. “Ok,” she says and happily eats
