So far, Rafferty had unearthed several jealous suitors as well, presumably, as jealous wives/girlfriends. And it was only the beginning of the second day of the investigation.
But, much to his surprise, Sam Dally had said he’d do the post mortem on Saturday morning, so he didn’t have time to think of all the work that awaited his attention, and they hurried off to keep their appointment.
Sam, as usual, had shamed a reluctant Rafferty into attending the post mortem. It wasn’t that he wasn’t sympathetic to the victim and her family, it was just that Sam Dally liked to rub salt into the wound of his squeamishness. Sam had said he’d be in especially on the Saturday morning to do the PM on Laura, and the least Rafferty could do was be in attendance.
