Chapter 21: The smell of musty sheets tickled Thaddeus’s nose and made his eyes burn. He fought back a sneeze. His head pounded, nausea washed over his body, and the urge to vomit became overwhelming. He rolled out of bed, and on his hands and knees, he crawled to the commode cabinet to empty his stomach contents into the chamber pot concealed inside. The bright morning sun hurt his eyes more than he thought possible. His stomach jerked violently, fighting to remove the cause of his sickness. Try as hard as he might relax and just let the sickness happen, it still caused him great pain. Each contraction sent waves of pain through his head.
