I don’t know where Karver went, and I couldn’t go after him. As soon as he hurried away, William stepped into the hallway, and I was stuck. If I went after him, he would realize there is more between us than initially seems. I can’t afford to have William know that aspect. I still don’t even know what I’m going to do.
I go to my office and pretty much lock myself inside. I tackle the mountain of paperwork on my desk. I take my meals and snacks in my office, not wanting to be exposed to anyone. Thankfully, William didn’t come looking for me until after dinner.
