Chapter Nine Across town, Jenny Foster is leaving her small studio apartment. Jenny’s neighborhood may as well be in a different world than Kiara’s; it’s rundown, infested with New York’s famous giant cockroaches, and hookers openly peddle their wares on the street. But the tiny, rundown apartment is all Jenny can afford. She normally doesn’t leave the apartment at night, but the baby is craving Thai food, and Jenny can’t afford to pay the delivery fee.
