Chapter 6 - Past - Penelope   Laughter and more laughter adorned the Pack's House along with the noises of the children running in the halls from one side to another playing...  It was the first time, in years, the house had so many pups filling it with life again for the older Werewolves' joy. They were 26 children in total, 27 now with the arrival of the little Penelope...  Among all, thirteen had similar age as her, between 8 and 11 years.  Five were younger, between 4 and 7 years old; one was a newborn baby girl just a few days old.  Only two were teenagers, both 15 years old, the rest were between 12 and 13 years old, and only two were girls from a small group of five. ... All these pups were the reason why the main floor was always in a big mess... Penelope already knew that she wasn't human anymore, just like those children, and had already become a wolf sometimes with the Alpha, who her instincts recognized as her new father in some way. As she easily accepted everything and maybe because they have so many children in the Pack... Both the Alpha and the doctor Sophie believed it would be easy for the Chinese girl to become friends with the others, but that wasn't what happened...  The few plays with Alpha in the yard in her new form always quickly tired the young girl, and after some tests and visits to Sophie, it was discovered that the accident had harmed Penelope's lungs...  For the first time, she heard the word Omega. It was the cause of why she would always find herself playing in some corner with her dolls, speaking a few words that she could remember in Chinese or reading a book.  In both cases, she was always alone since the other children seemed to be afraid of hurting her or something like that, which could end up provoking the Alpha's anger against them... Until one day after three months, she had started to live with them, being that she spent the first month and a half in the hospital, one of the boys who were 12 years old saw her watching in a jealous way them play soccer. Even going against the protests of his friends, the Boy stopped the game... With the ball in his hands, he walked up to her, who was ashamed to be found staring at them, and she continued to pretend to be reading the book in her hands. "Do you wanna play too?" He asked her, handing the soccer ball in her hands. ...This was the first time that the young Omega, Penelope, and the young Alpha, Alexander, exchanged words... After that day, both kids became great friends who did everything together, including getting into trouble.  Alpha Joseph easily found out that the new member of his family, despite being an Omega, was a real tomboy who loved challenges.  Penelope's loved ballet that one day she practiced passionately fled from her mind as she ran through the woods and climbed trees... * * * The ballet recitals continued to delight me even after years of having stopped practicing it.  I loved watching them in the middle of the comfort of the duvets, and in the safety of my house, it was the best way I could enjoy it without remember that night... I just loved to see them when I wanted to relax or forget about something amid the pirouettes the ballerinas did, getting me out of the world when I had too much to think about... Like right now. ... Alexander had kissed me, and I couldn't believe it was true yet... I didn't know if I should like it and be happy with the kiss, or if I should be mad at the order that things happened... To me, It seemed to be a bad joke from him, especially after he'd said I wasn't his Mate. So when I remembered his words while we were still kissing, my first reaction after pull away was to slap him. "A penny for your thoughts." "Please stop, Eli," I said while pushing her hand that showed me a coin. "You didn't come to training today."  "I know." "He was there." "I know." "Are you sick?" Again, her hand came toward my face... This time to see if I had a fever. "No, I'm not sick..." I sighed before I keep answering her. "I just don't want to see Alex right now." "What happened?!" She asked me, looking startled. "Is your crush on him finally over?!" "Eli, I don't have a crush on him. Alexander is my Mate." I could see her mouth moving and creating the words: 'I know I know' because I mentioned he was my Mate. It might look like she was mockery me, but I knew that Elisabeth believed that finding your Mate was something almost impossible.  ... It was something her family believed... Her parents weren't Mates and her fiance, who was 5 years older than her, wasn't her mate either. Using the Alpha, my father, as an example, she always told me that she didn't want to die old and alone. Elizabeth was always the main person who told me to forget Alex and move on. Because if we were truly Mates... That would never change, and we could run back into each other's arms when the day finally came, if we wanted to, in her words. So, for a while... In college, I tried to follow her thoughts to the fullest when I went to parties, nightclubs, or simple events that I attended... But the reality was that I would always find myself looking at him again. In the last few years... I just gave up on that.  Maybe it worked for Eli because her Mate wasn't around, I'm not sure. However, It didn't work for me, and I decided to follow my heart again... Maybe I was wrong about these emotions... But I decided that I would rather wait to find out one day naturally. Instead of forcing those feelings to go away or ignore them... So...  If Alexander had kissed me as some joke or kindness, he wouldn't be forgiven either... ... No matter how much I wanted him to kiss me.
