Jessica decided she was going to put on her big girl's undies and approach her husband. They'd always been able to tell each other everything (well almost everything - since she couldn't bring herself to tell him she loved him). Now more than ever she was sure he was attracted to her. There was no mistaking the imprint of his erection last night as he kissed every thought from her mind. Once she could write it off as a fluke, but last night was enough proof that there was s****l chemistry between them. She hadn't quite made up her mind if that was enough for her to want to call off the divorce proceedings just yet. But it was enough for her to decide that she wanted Mark to be her first. She loved him, she trusted him and she couldn't see herself losing her virginity to anyone else besides him.
It was time.
She just had to approach him.
She wasn't sure how she'd broach the topic, but she had an MBA, surely she'd be able to present her case - to make an impressive sales pitch. She'd have to tread carefully however, she'd feel more comfortable sleeping with him if he could provide a clean bill of health. She didn't want the chance of catching some disease the first time she got out the gate. God only knew what/if Veronica had Chlamydia or any other Sexually Transmitted Infections. It was catty of her to think that, but she didn't care. After all, Veronica was knowingly sleeping with a married man. She had no sympathy or loyalty for the heifer.
Decision made, Jessica dressed with care. As it was Sunday, she figured she'd invite Mark out to lunch which they could have in a park - perhaps a picnic, during which time she'd broach the topic of them having a brief s****l fling. After showering and brushing her hair into a low ponytail, Jessica decided to go braless - putting on a white floral halter top flare dress that ended just above her knees. Looking at herself in the full-length mirror, she was pleased with what she saw. Her B cup breasts were small enough to appear full yet perky. The dress was also flattering to her voluptuous shape - hugging her tiny waist and flaring out at the hips. Her big butt which she was blessed with from birth jigged and swayed with the free flow of the dress - causing the back of the dress to appear shorter than the front. She completed the look with a pair of white wedge heels shoes and a pair of small diamond-studded earrings. She'd foregone wearing a necklace as she'd missed her favourite heart pendant one given to her by Mark. In her haste to leave that night, she'd forgotten it in her jewellery box, so it was still in the States waiting to be fixed.
Signing, Jessica said, "well it's now or never. You can do this."
Pep talk complete, she sprayed her favourite scent in the air and did a twirl in it. She hated when persons used too much perfume and the scent was over powering. She was a firm believer that a little bit goes a far way.
Grabbing her room's key card, cellular phone and handbag, Jessica stepped out of her room closing the door behind her. Turning towards Mark's room she placed the items in her bag. She'd made three steps - not looking up to see where she was going - before accidentally bumping into someone.
"I'm so sorry, It's my fault," she apologised. "I wasn't looking where I was going."
Looking up, she realized the person she'd bumped into was Veronica.
It took her another second to process that Veronica was scantly dressed and yet another second to conclude that the P.A had just exited her husband's room.
"Apology accepted, Jessica. But perhaps next time you could try looking where you are going. It doesn't pay to be so absent-minded."
Ignoring the snide comment, Jessica decided to focus on what she considered to be more important - and that was, what the hell the P.A was doing in Mark's room at that hour of the morning (on a Sunday no less) dressed like that.
Jessica's mind was busy processing all the possible reasons for such an occurrence. What she didn't know was that she had a really expressive face and her every thought was being transmitted to Veronica.
The same Veronica who was trying everything she could think of to break the married couple up.
Veronica had lusted after and loved Mark for years. She'd left and went to work on herself, and finally, she'd achieved a body she knew he would be attracted to. She'd known his stance on marriage but figured she'd be able to change his mind. It was a shock to her, therefore, when she returned after ten years of grooming to find that Mark had married an unknown entity. He was officially off the figurative market.
For a while, Veronica had been disillusioned and disheartened. She'd made a lot of sacrifices, burnt a lot of bridges to get where she was today - at a place where Mark could look at her and possibly return her affection. To think she'd done all she had and for nothing had sent her on a downward spiral. Eventually, she'd retain some of her common sense and had decided that working as his P.A would not be a bad consolation prize. She'd make herself invaluable to him and would be able to spend a lot of time with him.
After a few weeks working as his P.A, she'd realized that his marriage wasn't what it appeared to be. She'd notice Mark had a habit of working extremely late in the office and rarely spoke of or to his wife while he was there. She'd seen it as an opportunity to finally get the only thing she'd ever really wanted in her life - Mark.
Since then she'd put a plan in motion to undermine their relationship at every turn and ingratiate herself with his mother. She knew if she got the powerhouse that was Elaine Thomas on her side it would be easy to get Mark to leave Jessica and marry her instead. If she remembered correctly, Mark would do anything to please or in most cases, appease his mother.
Sucking up to Elaine and pandering to her vanity had been a walk in the park. Elaine prided herself on being a socialite - the bell of the ball - someone who was always in the know and up to date with the latest gossip; someone who felt image and one's public perception was everything. Veronica was aware of that and knew how to use it to her advantage. So much so, Elaine had unwittingly been more than willing to assist in breaking Mark and Jessica up and presenting Veronica as a via replacement. She viewed Veronica as a better option than Jessica. Hence the plan was set in motion to send Jessica packing so she could take Mark for herself.
Judging by the look on Jessica's face, Veronica was sure the woman had heard the rumours she'd started about her and Mark having an affair. She was going to use that to her advantage now.
"Oh, how pretty you look!" Veronica exclaimed with fake cheer. 'You have such a home-body school teacher elderly librarian sense of style. It's no wonder Mark married you. You are so different from his usual type."
Jessica bristled at the backhanded compliment. "Excuse me?"
"Oh, I didn't mean to offend. Your dress is so virginal and adorable."
Jessica straightened her shoulders and went to respond, but Veronicsa stopped her with a raise of her hand.
"Don't go getting your panties in a bunch. I just meant you are so uniquely you that you are completely different in every way from the types of women Mark dated. At least the ones who were captured by the media."
"And how would you know whom Mark has dated in the past? You've only been with him for about a year now."
"I've done my research. A good P.A studies her boss so she can cater for ALL of his needs. I assure you, I'm not a good P.A. I'm an excellent one."
With that said, Veronica adjusted her ample bossom, effectively shoving it in Jessica's face.
"I don't know what you are implying nor do I care to know," Jessica coldly stated, refusing to let on that she suspected the other woman of sleeping with her husband.
"Oh, I think you know what I'm saying. I've heard you are a smart cookie."
"Smart enough not to believe anything that comes out of your mouth."
"Why would I need to lie about anything?" Veronica laughingly questioned. As you can see for yourself, I'm just coming from Mark's room. I'm on call 24/7. I cater to his every need."
"I wouldn't be bragging if I were you. You are nothing more than a glorified servant."
"But that's the thing, you aren't me. That's why I'm the one that gets called at all hours."
Jessica scoffed but didn't comment further.
"Haven't you wondered why you who is married to the man is in a separate hotel room?"
"Not that it's any of your business, but that was by my choice."
"Your choice? If that belief comforts you at night when you sleep alone in your big cold empty bed then go ahead and continue believing that, Jessica."
Gathering her pride as an armour, Jessica said, "I don't have time to stand here and engage in idle chitchat with you. As you can see I was on my way out."
"Don't let me stop you. I myself need to go take another shower and order some room service to regain my energy."
With that, Veronica flounched herself off, taking the stairs two floors down where her room was.
Jessica, who ten minutes ago was eager and anxious to position her husband, was reluctant to now knock on his door. She was afraid she'd find him in a state of undress. She'd never admit it out loud, but she'd never been so humiliated in her life as she was talking to Veronica.
Never mind she was the one that wanted to end her marriage and had even requested a divorce. She didn't care that she was the one who'd insisted on separate rooms either. She hated, simply HATED the fact that witch was privy to her marital drama.
Mind uncertain on how to proceed, Jessica decided she needed to calm down and regroup before approaching Mark. With that decided, she turned around and went to the hotel's cafe to grab a late breakfast.
