Chapter 6

Kiki (Mia’s) POV. The main door leading to Colton’s apartment glides open as soon as it feels my presence and I walk in majestically as I look at my waist to be sure my shirt hasn’t been pulled out of where I had tucked it in nicely. Ascending the stairs steadily in my flats, I approach his room cautiously and press on the handle quietly to avoid waking him up as he must still be sleeping. Opening the door, I find my sure guess to be true as he has his eyes shut with his fruit like pillow clutched in his right hand tightly. Walking in further, I shut the door as quietly as I did when opening it and walk into his closet only to find that he has some of the clothes on the clean tiled floor of the closet. Picking them up and folding them nicely, I pull out one of the drawers and place them in neatly before looking at my wrist watch.  Opting out for a red turtle neck long sleeved top, a pair of jeans, one of his many matching Crombie coat and a pure silver neck chain.. Walking out, I move for his sofa and place the selected dress neatly on it. Looking at my wrist watch, I walk towards his bed and stop. “Mr. Gilliam…” I call out to him, but he only stirs in his sleep. Nibbling on my bottom lip, I hold my wrist and nod. “Colton, wake up. You have to be at the studio early.” I add, this time with a louder voice than the first and he opens his eyes. I step back as he gets off the bed and walk into his bathroom. My eyes trails over his slightly messed up bedroom which I had arranged for him and I shake my head as I walk towards the throw pillows on the floor. “Good morning.” He says as he steps out of the bathroom in a new under-short and a small towel draped on his right shoulder. “Good morning, Mr. Gilliam.” I reply as I watch him apply his body moisturizer. Adjusting my bag, I walk towards the door. “You should not leave. My hotness  doesn’t have an effect on you.” He says and I turn to face him. “I always step out.” I reply. “Sit on the sofa and read out today’s schedule.” He says and I look at him. “I usually read it to you after you have dressed up.” I reply as I watch him tug on his coat. “Now?” He asks. “You have your clothes on.” I reply. “Read.” He says and sit to tug on his shoe. “You have a hour studio session at the office in thirty minutes. After which you are to follow I and Dray to see the billboards that will be showing your live show for tomorrow and also the event hall for the signing of your new album.” I say without reading it and he stands up. “I see you meant what you said on yesterday night.” He starts as he holds my left wrist. “I do.” I reply. “Your dress says it all, but you got me wrong. I know I shouted, but I didn’t mean to. You also didn’t let me complete my statement yesterday. I was going say I wanted to punish you for…” “Mr. Gilliam…” “Colton.” He corrects and I nod. “Colton, the word punish shouldn’t be included. We’ve left the secretary and boss level strictness ever since the night I brought you home. We are very good friends now and more I was your acting fiancée.” I reply. “Was? You would do no such thing to me.” He replies. “You know me well.” I reply. “Still, I am your boss and besides you can’t call off wants in a contract without prior notice.” He says. “I know and I didn’t resign. The work I signed up for doesn’t include being your acting fiancée. About the contract I had told you that if I am treated wrongly I am free to cut off the contract and it is even in clause 5.4.” I reply and someone knocks the door of his room. “Come in.” He says as he lets go of my hand. “Sir, your breakfast is ready.” Sam, his chef and nutritionist says. “I am not eating.” He replies rudely. “He will eat.” I reply Sam and he nods before walking out. “If you let me be your close friend so I can help you with your attitude then you should listen to me.” I say to him as soon as Sam shuts the door. “if you follow our friendship rule you would be helping more and not threatening to stop your act as my fiancée.” He replies. “I am not threatening you, I am not your acting fiancée.” I say firmly. “Mia…” “If you really want to talk, we will talk when you finish eating. I will be at the dining you are almost six minutes late for your studio session.” I say and walk out. He walks out after me and we both descend the stairs together. “Join me at the table.” He says. “I have eaten.” I lie. “Okay. Still join me. You do not have to eat, just sit and watch me.” He replies. Colton never cease to amaze me. Watch? “Okay. Your studio session is supposed to start now, but you are still here.” I say as I sit in front of him. “I know I have a strong ego and I make you feel rejected sometimes, but please understand me. I will work on my ego and I would also appreciate if you let the bodyguards follow you around. It is just for your protection. It wasn’t easy securing an apartment for them next to yours as you know it cost me double the usual amount because I had to move the family there to another nice apartment.” He tells me. “After you have worked more on beating down your ego and shut the door against your easy anger.” I reply. “You are still going to help me, right?” He asks. “Only if you promise to give me the respect I deserve. “ I reply. “I will.” He says as he stands up. “Your booty call will be here in the evening.” I remind him as we both leave the dining area and approach the living room. “Okay. One more thing.” He says as we walk out. “What’s that?” I ask as we approach his car. “You dressing in shirt and skirt leaves the impression that I am still having my fiancée do the work of my secretary.” He replies. “I am still your secretary.” I reply. “Maybe you should quit being my secretary and just focus on acting as my fiancée. That would strengthen the thoughts that we are together and also leave the impression that I am a good man.” He suggests and I shake my head as we settle in his car. “I would rather not.” I reply as his phone rings. His happy expression soon fades as he listens to whoever is speaking to him over the phone. I watch him move his palm to his hair and I look at him for answers as he ends the call. “You do not look okay.” I tell him and he turns his head to look at me as his driver drives out. “Damien, there’s a change of location. We are heading to my Mom’s apartment. Mia, cancel all my appointments for today or reschedule them for four in the evening.” He says and I nod. After his lateness to for the studio session, we still have to cancel? “What’s going on? Colton, tell me what’s wrong.” I urge him to speak to me and he raises his head. “It is not something you should worry about. You can even sit and wait for me in the car while I go in.” He replies and I nod as I unlock my phone to contact the director waiting in the studio. The supposed silence in the car is replaced with an almost silent instrumental play of Tear Drops On My Guitar BY Taylor Swift as we arrive at his mom’s place after a hour and six minutes. Right before Damien can get off the car to open Colton’s door, he opens it himself and I watch his mom walk out through the main door like the rap queen she is. I watch Colton clench his hands like he usually does when he is angry and I get off the car fast to grab his fisted hands before he snaps at his mom. “What are you doing?” He asks. “Stopping you from lashing out on your Mom.” I reply and he looks at me before turning back to face his Mom. “It feels extremely nice to see you two.” His mom says with a smile as she walks towards us dressed in a mid-thigh length zip up leather jacket. “Mia, kindly give us a minute.” Colton says. “Okay.” I reply. “She is not giving us any minute. You finally come to see me for the first time in a week and it’s not like you came willingly. Is this how to give me a hug?” His mom asks as she moves to hold my hand. “Celeste called me with such emergence, I thought you had a cardiac arrest.” Colton replies her with worry laced in his voice. “Now, you are worried.” She replies with a happy smile. “Hi, Gemma.” I say to his mom and she hugs me. “It good to see you two together, let’s go in.” She says and hold my hand, leaving Colton to walk behind us. “This meeting better have a good cause.” I hear him mumble as we walk in. Nice enough, what I had called the main door isn’t. We walk on a smooth concreted floor lined from the door we walked in through to the main house door, like a red carpet on a beach sand. “I believe Colton is treating you well. I am also sorry I didn’t give you a call the day you were harassed by Colton’s fans.” She says as her thumb caresses the back of my hand absent mindedly. “He is and it’s okay.” I reply as a lady who seems to be in her mid-thirties walks ahead of us. “Hi, beautiful Mia.” A man says as soon as we walk into the lounge and I strain my eyes a bit to figure out if I know him. “Hi.” I reply and he puts out his hand for a handshake. “Marlon, just stop.”  Colton says through gritted teeth and Gemma, Colton’s mom let go off my hand. “Ne prenez pas cela personnel, je ne fais pas la même chose que vous pensiez avoir fait avec Allison.” The Marlon man replies and Colton walks closer to him. “What I think or what I saw?” Colton asks with a low but reverberating tone. “How about we eat first before you two talk?” His mom suggests. “No, Mom. I have an appointment at the office, I thought there was an emergency here.” Colton says and I look at him. “If you do not want to sit and eat, at least let Mia do so. It’s her first time here.” His mom replies. With that, she leads us out of the lounge and into a bigger room which has the dinning on the left. “Colton, I need to use the bathroom.” I whisper to him as he sits next to me at the dinning and he looks at me. “Okay.” “Show me the way.” I say. “The bathroom?” Marlon asks. “Um.. Yeah.” I answer. “I will show you.” He says and stand up. “No! There are enough female staffs here to show her.” Colton replies before I can. “You don’t have to take things personal. She is your fiancée, I can’t harm or say anything wrong you are like a brother to me.” He replies and I pick up my phone. [KIKI (Mia)] You shouldn’t be arguing with him, you are only showing him your weakness. Your anger looks like he is intimidating you and I am sure that’s the last thing you would ever want. I type and send as I stand up. “It’s fine, I will go with Marlon.” I say as Colton picks up his phone to read my message. Leaving my bag on my sit and walking past Colton with just my phone in my hands, Marlon joins me and lead me towards a room very close to a series of stairs. I walk in and surprisingly he walks in after me. As soon as we both walk into a room that seems to be for the guests. He shuts the door and lock it, causing my breath to hitch in my throat. He gives me a cocky smile and I tighten the grip on my phone as he walks closer to me causing me to step back until I feel the wall against my back. “Kiki Chiara Otedola. You think I wouldn’t recognize you, right?” He asks as his cold hands grip my wrists and my urge to pee so bad disappears.
