Chapter Six ’s first glimpse of Jack had her thinking that he was a big, burly guy, but she soon realized that that was a trick of the night and perspective. He really wasn’t much taller than she was. Still, he was built like a wrestler, and she guessed he had trouble finding shirts that fit him properly. Jack did a quick check of the area using a flashlight, but it was so perfunctory that it was clear to Kimberley that he did not think that Barbara had had any company.
