Chapter 14
Ivy pulled her burgundy wool cape around her torso and breathed in the cool ocean air. The beach scene at The Del was enchanting tonight, and the ice skating had been exhilarating, even if she had taken it easy with Bennett. On one side, laughter rose from the skating rink, and on the other, the mesmerizing sound of a slumbering sea lulled away cares. With her worries momentarily diminished, she warmed her hands on a mug of hot chocolate and gazed up at Bennett.
“If I forget to tell you,” Ivy began. “I’ve had a very merry Christmas.”
Almost imperceptibly, Bennett’s smile slipped. Perhaps he’d hoped she would say something else.
