chapter one
“Emily King!” A voice roared behind Emily startling her and everyone who was with her in the resting area.
She quickly turned around coming face to face with non other than her boss, Justin Carter the most famous, feared bachelor and CEO of Carter logistics.
“Why isn't my afternoon coffee on my table?!” he roared again and one by one, every person in the resting area scampered off leaving the two.
“I'm -- I'm sorry sir well --- I---” she stuttered not sure how to respond. As far as she knew, he didn't ask her for any coffee so then--
“My office now!” He growled again turning on his heels and walking off.
Emily let out a sigh and after getting the cup of fresh steaming hot coffee, she followed after him.
“Good luck Emily,” her colleague and best friend Claire, mouthed as she passed by followed by giving her a sad look.
Everyone in the department knew just how harsh and inconsiderate Justin Carter was and Claire feared for her friend's job. She knew that Emily was going to get fired for sure because even the slightest mistake would get someone fired.
“Do you think she will get fired? But who will replace him if she leaves?” Another colleague Scott whispered as she passed by.
Ignoring their whispers, Emily let out a sigh and pushed open the door to Justin Carter's office.
“Sir,” she said as soon as she walked in.
He was gracefully sitting on his seat, his back facing hers staring at the window.
“Close the door, drop the curtains and come here immediately!” he ordered.
Emily placed the cup on his desk and the moment she turned around to close the door and the curtains, she saw her colleagues peaking through the office waiting for the drama to unfold.
Can't they just mind their own business she thought to herself as she walked over to the door closing it followed by the curtains.
“It's done Justin,” she said with a sigh, and he turned facing her grinning from ear to ear, happy that he was alone with her.
“That was so rude of you, scaring me like that!” she muttered walking over to his desk and sitting on his laps,
“It was the only thing I could think of that would bring you here,” he said his arms around her, his lips brushing against hers.
“Your coffee will get cold drink up,” she was about to get off, but he pulled her back saying,
“Not yet, I missed you and I want you---” he lightly bit on her neck, but she pushed him off saying,
“I don't want you to leave a hickey, else everyone will know--”
“ Why are you being cold to me? You know I don't care about such things?” He said staring at her as she successfully go off of him saying,
“But I do! I'm tired Justin. When are you going to introduce me? We've been doing this for months now and I'm tired of hiding and pretending! You tell me you love me and yet you never even show it to the world!”
“I know baby,” he got up from his seat and held her in his arms, “I'm waiting for things to settle in my family then I will introduce you ---”
“ And when will that be? After ten years?” she asked staring into his eyes, her arms around his neck.
“Soon,” he crushed his lips on hers, squeezing her bottom, and she let out a soft whimper kissing him back with the same energy.
“I love you Emily, and I promise I will tell my family everything,”
“ You better,” she said kissing him back, and he smiled in the kiss, his hands making their way to her shirt unbuttoning it while she did the same.
He turned her around, her hands on the table his arms all over her pulling her skirt but before he could even take things further,
“Justin? Why is this damn door locked?!” Someone knocked on the door breaking the couple apart.
“It's the director,” Emily said fear in her voice as she quickly fixed her clothes while just fixed his.
“Open up Justin! What are you doing in there?!” The voice roared again and Justin let out a displeased sigh fixing his hair.
He sat on his seat, taking a sip of his now warm coffee while motioning for Emily to unlock the door.
After Emily was done fixing herself, she opened the door and the director who was non other than Justin's father James, walked in without even acknowledging her presence.
“Let me guess, you were f*****g your secretary, weren't you?”
“ What do you want dad?” Justin inquired placing his coffee mug on the table and giving his father a displeased look.
“When are you ever going to stop messing with these whores and finally settle down?”
Hearing this, Justin glared at his father saying,
“I don't do that and never call Emily a w***e! She's nothing like that!”
“ Servant, leave us!” director James said giving Emily a side look.
“She's not a servant! And don't go anywhere Emily, dad is the one who's leaving,”
“ Didn't you hear what I said?” Mr James looked at Emily adding, “ if you love your silly little job then you better do as I say,”
Without a word Emily lowered her head and walked out of the door closing it behind her tears threatening to spill out of her eyes, but she pushed them back composing herself.
“Don't take it to heart em, just calm down,” she gave herself a pep talk, sitting on her desk and destructing herself by sorting out the files and arranging Justin's schedule.
Back inside the office.
“What's wrong with you, dad? Why do you ----”
“ What's up with you and that secretary?” His dad asked cutting him off, “ each time I come here, I always find the door locked with you both inside. Aren't you tired of f*****g her? When are you ever going to stop being a playboy and finally man up and marry?”
“What do you want dad? I have stuff that needs to be taken caring of I'm busy,”
“ You --- anyway, she went be here for long,” he said with a smiled staring at Justin.
“Why are you smiling?” Justin asked giving his father a curious look.
He knew very well that the smile meant something that would not sit well with him.
“Emmanuel Cross and I, we've been talking and, we've arranged for you to marry Madelyn. The wedding has been set for two months from now,”
“ WHAT?!”
