Chapter 5

'Let’s try something till lover boy gets here.’ She says and I frown.

‘I guess he isn’t my mate then…’ I tell her disappointedly.

‘No he isn’t, but we will find him soon, don’t worry. Now walk in the front of the house and turn towards it.’ She says and I do as she said. ‘Now close your eyes and imagine a kind of shield around the house as big as you want.’ She continues and I do it without a question. I close my eyes and imagine a huge transparent shield around the cottage. A few seconds later I feel incredible power flows out of my body, towards the house. I open my eyes…

‘What a…?’

‘Don’t stop, keep going, concentrate, it’s almost done.’ She says and I nod my head, I close my eyes again and keep imagining that shield. Now it’s easier since I actually saw it. It’s a glowing hemisphere shaped power shield. When I opened my eyes it stopped spreading around the cottage.

‘It’s done. You are a fast learner.’ Sky says happily and I open my eyes but don’t see anything.

‘But … I don’t see it.’ I tell her in confusion.

‘That’s the point, it’s an invisible shield dummy.’ She says with a chuckle.

‘Wow, I can’t believe I did that.’ I tell her. ‘What does it do?’ I ask.

‘It will warn you once someone wants to pass with bad intentions, you will feel it, wherever you are.’ She says proudly.

‘Cool.’ I tell her just when Chris stops the car in the front of me.

“Hi baby, why didn’t you wait for me inside? The forest can be dangerous at night.” Chris says when I get in the car with a huge smile on my face. I kiss his lips softly and buckle up my seat belt.

“Nothing is more dangerous out there than me.” I tell him playfully and he shakes his head with a smile.

“If you says so, but I am worried about you.” He says.

‘Awww… how sweet.’ Sky says sarcastically.

‘He is actually, very sweet and handsome.’ I tell her while answering Chris as well.

“Don’t worry baby, I can defend myself. I wonder how Lara is holding up though …or Hayes.” I tell him with a chuckle. Lara is an energy bomb at times, especially when she is drinking.

“Well, did she call you already?” He asks and I shake my head. “Then I am sure they have a good time.” He says.

“Maybe you are right, I don’t want to stay too long anyway.” I tell him with a shrug.

“Angie…. Will you sleep at mine tonight?” He asks nervously and I tense up.

‘No..no..no, no way. He is not our mate.’ Sky says in panic.

‘Geez, calm down, I won’t sleep with him like that. What do you take me for?’ I ask her.

“You don’t need to if you don’t want to, I just wanted to cuddle, you know…” he says while he scratches the back of his neck.

“Okay, I will sleep by you.” I tell him and he looks at me with a wide grin. “But we will just sleep, nothing more.” I tell him playfully and he lets out a laugh.

“I know, don’t worry. I am happy if I can hold you in my arms.” He says sweetly. I am actually sad that he is not my mate. He is so caring and thoughtful.

‘Our mate will be perfect, you will see.’ Sky says and I hope she is right. ‘I am always right.’ She says and I roll my eyes.

“We are here.” Chris says and comes around the car to open the door for me. He always insists on opening my door. I can’t imagine an even more perfect person so I am quite curious about my mate already.

“Thank you.” We head towards the huge house where I could hear the music from miles. This is too loud to my heightened hearing.

‘I can help you with that.’ Sky says and suddenly the volume of the music seems lower and I can hear every small noises again.

‘How… how did you do that?’ I ask her in shock. How did she lowered the volume from outside of the house?

‘I didn’t lower it, silly. I just control your hearing.’ She says.

‘This is so cool, I can’t imagine what else is there to know about you and our power and I can’t wait to find out.’ I tell her excitedly while Chris leads me into the crowd.

“ANGIE…” Lara screams while she hurries up to us with a smiling Hayes behind her, but his smile froze on his face as soon as he sees Chris.

“Are you drunk?” I ask Lara with a chuckle.

“I think I am..” she says with a frown.

“I know you are.” I let out a laugh.

“I am glad you could make it.” Hayes says and Chris places his arm around my shoulder possessively. “So he is your plus one I guess.” He says as he looks at Chris.

“Yes, he is. Thanks for the invitation by the way. I hope Lara didn’t cause any trouble for you.” I tell him to try to lighten the mood when I see the staring contest between him and Chris.

“Not at all, she is fun.” He says and now the smile is back onto his face as he looks at the dancing Lara. She looks at us as soon as she hears him.

“Aww… you are fun too… come on, let’s have fun together.” She says in a drunken voice and drags him away while she is giggling happily. Hayes just waves at us and follows her with a chuckle.

“Let’s drink something if we are already here.” Chris says and leads me into the kitchen. There are people making out, playing beer pong or just laying lifelessly on the marble floor. “Maybe we can walk to mine from here, what do you think? In that case I can drink too.” He says and I shrug my shoulders.

“I don’t mind.” I tell him and he pours some whiskey with coke into two red cups and hands one to me.

“Thank you, but I warn you. I can hold my liquor very well.” I tell him. Werewolves can’t get drunk as humans do, I need to drink maybe a bottle of strong alcohol in one go to feel dizzy. I didn’t try it yet, I just read about it.

‘We are a silver wolf Angel, what do you think ,what some alcohol can do to us?’ Sky asks smugly.

‘I don’t know Sky, you tell me.’

‘Nothing at all, you will just feel good, that’s it.’ She says.

“I have never seen you drink so I am sure I would won that game, but I don’t want you to get drunk, so I will pass.” Chris says ,bringing me out of my conversation with Sky. I hope they can’t see on me when I talk to her.

‘Actually your eyes become slightly darker whenever we talk, but you just need to look down. Just in case someone will notice.’ Sky says.

“Alright then, let’s take it lightly.” I tell him. It’s actually difficult sometimes to pay attention to two different conversation at the same time without people think that I am crazy.

‘You will get use to it.’ Sky says.

We are drinking and laughing, dancing with Chris and I can see that he is starting to be drunk already. I don’t mind because he is very adorable with his flushed cheeks and glassy eyes.

“Are you even drinking at all?” He asks when he see that I am still sober.

“Of course I do, you were the one pouring them to me, remember?” I ask him with a chuckle and he pouts his lips.

“You can really hold your drink… but I know why…” he says and I become tense for a moment till I wait for him to continue. “Because you are … an Angel.. and Angels don’t get drunk.” He says with a chuckle and I let out a laugh along with a sigh of relief.

‘Don’t worry, he is not that smart to tell what we are.’ Sky says sarcastically.

‘What the hell is your problem with him? He was nothing but good to me all this time we know each other. Why are you like this?’ I ask her angrily. I don’t understand her behaviour towards Chris. Why is she so hostile?

‘Because he is not mate.’ She says sadly and I let out a sigh.

‘I know Sky, I am sorry for talking to you like that, but Chris is my friend too, he was always there for me and I will be always grateful for that. He is a good person and I want you to be nice to him, please.’ I tell her and now she is the one sighing.

‘You are right, I am sorry. I am just a bit afraid. What if you fall in love and you don’t want to find our mate anymore.’ She says sadly.

‘Don’t worry about that Sky, I saved myself for my mate in my whole life. I know that I need to break up with Chris sooner or later. Just let me do it on my own way… I don’t want to lose his friendship.’ I explain to her.

‘I understand, I am sorry if I was mean.’ She says.

‘It’s okay, I understand you too.’ I tell her.

“I think it’s enough for today, let’s go home.” I tell Chris and he smiles at me.

“As my Angel wishes.” He says and I let out a laugh. We go to search for Lara to let her know that we are leaving, but I change my mind as soon as we find her. Hayes and Lara are making out in the corner so I decide to sent her a text later. She will be fine I think.
