The story takes place in year 1402 (XV century), but in alternative timeline, where vampires are real and their history came down a little bit like this: By 1000 AD - there were 1.000 pure blood vampire clans, each with around 100 members, making almost 100.000 pure blood vampires in total; with only 500 turned vampires, a number that was fully controlled by pure blooded vampires, as was the will of any such turned vampire. | v 1000 AD - Victor Satajew from the 3rd Russian clan falls in love with a human girl, but his family rejects such a fiancée and orders him to marry a pure blooded vampire of their choice, Victor rebels, runs away with his beloved and transforms her without the knowledge of the head of his clan, and his beloved is chased and killed by the clan members; as an act of revenge, Victor performs an ancient ritual (during which he dies), which causes turned vampires to regain free will and gives them ability to transform others. Full of anger, they increase their number to 50.000 in 2 weeks and start a s*******r of clans. By 1100 AD - clan after clan dies during the s*******r (pride loses them, they think that they still have power over the turned vampires, and before they know that it is not so, they are killed). Only 10,000 turned are killed in the fights, of the pure blood vampire clans only 23 members out of 3 clans survive. They hide, gathering strength. | V 1120 AD - during the battle with the army of turned vampires, pure bloods kill almost everyone - only 1200 escape. | v 1390 AD - the number of turned vampires reaches 1500, despite the constant killing of them by hunters; pure blood vampires make a pact with hunters - they are to help each other kill turned vampires and save humans from them. | v 1402 AD - killing of turned vampires continues; now their number is 950 and constantly changes; Antoine, the oldest of the turned vampires, fascinated and inspired by Victor, now leads the turned. And that's when our vampire love story begins. Now that you know the setting well, reading the story will be more pleasurable :)
