The following day at dawn, soldiers woke up for another tiresome journey, they prepared their breakfast and ate, Lucas wanted to return to their camp after, covering almost twenty kilometers, they saw smoke hovering from a distance.
"I see a smoke where we are heading to," James said
Lucas looked at the smoke soldiers moved to a higher ground to see.
"There is a huge militia camp where we are heading to," Henry said.
James scratched his head soldiers were surprised.
"We are passing through the same place to Kabongo," Henry said.
"What are we going to do?" John asked
"We are trained soldiers we want to pass through this militia camp without casualties on our side," James said.
Henry smiled knowing that when James say something he mean and it will happen that way.
"How are we going to pass through a heavily guarded militia camp?"Henry asked.
"Can you give me the binoculars" James ordered?
Henry handed over the binoculars, and James observed the camp.
"The camp is subdivided into four subdivisions to our left side it is not heavily guarded but to our right side its heavily guarded," James said
"You said it's subdivided into four how?" Lucas asked.
"The left side we have the upper and the lower side which is not heavily guarded, the other right side the upper and Lower side is heavily secured several militias" James reiterated.
"What is the plan? Henry asked.
"We will still camp here for some days we come up with the plan to pass through the camp," James said.
"But we need to hurry our village is in danger because of an impending retaliatory attack from Jacob," John said emotionally
"I know Jacob, he will do that after six months he is still recovering from the loss of his soldiers" James explained.
"We are going to send two soldiers as spies to the camp to check where is porous, as we plan strategy on how we can infiltrate the camp," James said.
"Organize the soldiers for the mission" James ordered.
Alfred and Wilson were given the assignment they were briefed on what to do.
"Alfred and Wilson, you trained on how to spice no mistakes, what we would like to know is how many gates are there, which place can we pass through easily, how many soldiers are Manning the gates, which rifle are they using finally is there alternative route we can use" James ordered
"Yes sir" Alfred and Wilson agreed.
"You have to carry pistols in case of an emergency you can use," James said
"We need answers before the end of the day," James said.
"Yes sir" Alfred responded
"It's about two kilometers to the camp hurry and be back when it's still daytime" James reiterated.
Alfred and Wilson left, James brought the map to check how many kilometers to Kasongo he realized they still have forty kilometers.
"How far is Kabongo sir," Henry asked.
"Exactly forty kilometers away," James said
"Soldiers!" James Bellowed
All the soldiers came around him.
"We want to go through the camp without any casualties on our side, we need to confuse this militia, by setting up bombs on the right side of the camp where there is heavy security," James said
"How are we going to put the bombs there and yet it is heavily secured?" Lucas asked.
"First at three o'clock in the morning tomorrow we are going to hurl timed grenades inside the camp that will explode after five seconds each to confuse the militia," James said
"At which part of the camp?" Henry asks
"On the right side which is heavily guarded," James responded.
"How do that plan work," John asked.
"Through binoculars, the left side of the camp is accessible, after hurling the timed grenade inside the right side of the camp, we return to the left side of the camp to wait for the grenade to explode since we are going to time them to explode exactly after thirty minutes" James explained.
"Which means, that will cause confusion, and the soldiers on the left side will run to try to salvage the situation on the right side of the camp, in the process we will hurriedly pass through the camp," James said.
"That is a brilliant idea," Henry said
"We are going to wake up at 2 am to assemble everything the bombs and the guns" James added.
Alfred and Wilson reached the camp they stood in a distance they saw soldiers patrolling the camp that didn't have a permanent perimeter fence, they saw a footpath passing through the right side of the camp where the militia used to go and fetch water.
They went towards the main gate and saw four soldiers Manning the gate, they went around the camp they saw that one side of the camp is heavily guarded the other side isn't guarded,
Inside the camp, hostages were digging in the militia's camp.
"This place is horrible its the same as Jacobs camp," Alfred said.
"Let's make sure we go around that camp to ascertain where is accessible for us to pass through," Alfred said
"Can't we just pass another root apart from this camp?" Wilson asked
"We don't have any option through this camp it's a shortcut, if we pass through another route, we will have to go for another sixty kilometers" Alfred reiterated.
Soldiers were going around their business and almost saw them.
"Here are the soldiers let's hide," Wilson said.
They rushed into the bush and hide unfortunately they were with dogs, the dogs barked and run towards where Wilson, and were, the two ran.
"They have escaped," one of the soldiers said
"Thomas what are we going to tell our commander," Robin said.
Robin and Thomas rushed to try to catch Alfred and Wilson as the dogs followed them they ran about kilometers they stopped.
"We don't want them to know where we are heading," Alfred said
"That is true our mission will fail" Wilson reiterated.
The dogs slowed down Alfred and Wilson composed one another and stood ready to fight Thomas and Robin reached where they are dogs barked Alfred and Wilson knew that the barking of dogs will not be heard in the camp.
The dog rushed at Alfred, and Alfred jumped and kicked the dog, the dog fell to the ground and run away other dogs followed.
"They are not hostages," Robin said
That is true" Thomas responded
"Let's fight them we are two and they are two also," Robin said
"It seems they are well trained why can't we just leave them," Thomas said.
"Have you seen how one of them kicked the dog? " Thomas added.
"Who are you," Thomas asked.
Wilson and Alfred did not respond, they looked at one another, Robin ran and wrestled Wilson but he found himself off the ground, Wilson held him like a toddler and knocked him to the ground.
Thomas realizes that his friend Robin was on the ground and rushed to Alfred wanting to wrestle him but he found themselves on the ground.
Robin ran away to escape Thomas and the dogs followed, and Wilson and Alfred laughed as they follow behind.
Robin and Thomas reached almost three hundred meters from their camp they stopped.
"Are we going to tell Joseph our commander what happened?" Robin asked.
"Are you mad do you want us to be locked with the hostages?" Thomas said.
"That is true let's not utter anything," Robin said.
The dogs run back to the camp,
"What happened to the dogs" soldiers at the gate asked each other.
One of the dogs had injury blood coming out of the mouth one of the dogs tapped the dog and checked the dog lost one tooth.
"The dog is injured I think he was hurt by a wild animal," the Soldier said.
"Where are the two soldiers who accompanied the dogs to the forest," the soldier asked.
Robin and Thomas ran, they wanted to enter the camp.
"What happened to the dog?" He is injured and you too have bruises on your face did you fight?" One Soldier Manning the gate asked.
Robin and Thomas looked at each other.
"No, we encountered wild animals they bite the dogs in the process of saving them we were bruised," Thomas said.
"I thought you fought amongst yourselves, Joseph our commander could put you in the hostage cell" One of the soldiers reiterated.
"Then you are heroes we are going to tell Joseph what happened," The soldier said.
"Please don't tell him it's okay with us we are going to the health clinic to nurse our bruises" Thomas pleaded.
Thomas knew that Joseph could ask a lot of questions and could organize a search party for the hyenas.
Robin and Thomas went into the camp, they went directly to the health center to be treated.
"I know we are going to be given an injection I don't like the injection of that nurse Neddy," Thomas said.
Robin laughed at Thomas.
"You are a grown-up man of about thirty years don't be stupid," Robin said.
"Remember without a sick sheet you can be sent to operations any moment we have to" Robin added.
"That is true" Thomas agreed.
Robin gained courage and entered into doctor's room.
"Welcome sit down what happened to your face it is bruised badly did you go to an operation? Neddy asked
" Yes," Robin responded.
I didn't get any information that there was an operation from the general?" Neddy responded.
"No, we were sent for a minor operation to search for the lost dogs," Thomas said.
"Robin and Thomas looked at each other knowing that they have lied the doctor examined their bruises and went into the medicine store Thomas thought it was just a tablet prescription surprisingly the doctor came with two big syringes for injection.
"I know, you Thomas you fear injection come inside here for an injection," Neddy said
"Thomas froze trembled stood entered the injection room he wanted to escape Robin pushed him in.
"Lower your trousers" Neddy roared a no-nonsense soldier and doctor.
Robin held Thomas tight and lowered his trousers, the doctor removed a syringe and inject Thomas, Thomas roared
Recruits rushed with the guns ready to fight thinking it was an ambush reaching the health center it was Thomas yelling at the top of his voice. The soldiers laughed as they returned to their position. Joseph general came soldiers rushed to avoid being punished
"That is Thomas the coward soldier," General said
"That is his norm, what happened I didn't send anything for an operation" General asked major.
"Thomas likes adventure he got injured in his adventurous escapades in the forest" major said as he laughed.
"Soldiers are very sharp they responded swiftly if there was an ambush they could defend the camp " General said
"Without a doubt, I nowadays trust these soldiers" major said,
