CHAPTER THREEThe guests at the dinner party that night were all neighbours whom the Duke had known for years. They were very delighted, as they always were, to be invited to the Castle. He talked to two of the ladies who told him long stories of how many salmon they had caught on various local rivers. The men talked mostly of their particular piece of moorland and whether the grouse season would be good or bad this year.
