Blaine glowered when he opened the front door mid-morning on Thursday and saw Detective Kemp and two other police officers standing there. The detective handed him the search warrant, waited for Blaine to read through it, then stepped into the house, gesturing for the others to join him. “Have fun,” Blaine sneered. “And make certain you put everything back exactly the way you found it.” The police ignored him as they went about their business. Blaine knew they wouldn’t find anything. He’d spent the previous night making certain of that.
