Chapter 4 saying good bye, anger

2107 Words
Mercury’s P.O.V   I don’t believe it, she actually thinks that me getting stabbed was her fault. How could she think such a thing? Even if she hadn’t been with me that day it probably still would have happened because that guy was a sly bastard that could never face anyone head on. He was going to stab me no matter what, that was my fate, but it wasn’t her fate to die because of me.    “Cheyenne, it's not your fault, even if you weren't there it still would have happened. I don’t blame you and neither does anyone else, Cheyenne.” I said, looking right into her eyes and she nodded as tears ran down her cheeks.   “I’m sorry, Mercury. I’m truly sorry.” Cheyenne replied and then she softly kissed me. I closed my eyes enjoying the feel of her lips on mine again, but when I opened my eyes again she was gone and I was alone with the Moon Goddess again.   “Mercury, my child, stay well. You will see her again one day, but right now it's not your time.” The Moon Goddess said, but that just angered me.   “NOT MY TIME, IT WASN’T HER TIME AND YET SHE’S GONE. SHE SACRIFICED HERSELF FOR ME. IT WASN’T HER TIME!!” I shouted, feeling my anger rising. The Moon Goddess placed her hand on my shoulder and somehow I could smell Cheyenne’s scent all around me, calming me down and comforting me. The light appeared again and shone brightly, but in a flash it was gone and so was everything else, including the Moon Goddess.   The next morning a light was shining brightly onto my face and at one point I thought it was another visit from the Moon Goddess or Cheyenne, but when I opened my eyes I saw that it was just the sun shining through the window. I sighed as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, knowing what I had to do, what Cheyenne wanted me to do. It was time to let her go. I got up from the bed and got dressed, then walked out of the bedroom, but I bumped right into my family. Isaiah held his hand out to me and handed me the key to mine and Cheyenne’s room, so I took it and walked down the hall to our bedroom. I unlocked and opened the door, then walked inside and her scent hit me straight away. Two years, it had been two years since I had been in this room and no one else had touched a single thing in here, per my instructions. My kids walked inside with me and looked around, smiling at the happy memories we all had in here. Cheyenne and I made love on that bed, actually we made love all over the place here, but we were mates and we loved each other, we were passionate about each other. That was where Anna and Selena woke me and Cheyenne up by throwing cold water over us, that was where Gabrielle took her first steps, that was where Isaiah used to sit and fall asleep when we watched a movie together. There were so many memories in here that as I thought about them tears started to form in my eyes.   “Cheyenne, I’m going to miss you so much, but this  will always be our room.” I whispered, closing my eyes and forcing my tears back.    “It's time to let her go.” I said, turning to face everyone and they all nodded.    “Dad, mom came to us last night and she said that she was going to talk to you too. She said that it was her time and that you were going to send her fully up to the Moon Goddess today, is that right?” Selena asked and I nodded.   “Yes it is. I need one of you to mind-link the guards and ask them to build a pyre for their Luna.” I said and immediately Selena’s eyes glazed over as she began the mind-link.    “It's time to get mom now, isn’t it?” Anna whispered and Gabrielle started to cry.    “Yes sweetie, it's time to go get her and say our final goodbyes.” I replied as Anna hugged her tightly. We all made our way to the pack hospital where Cheyenne was and I mind-linked Doctor Cloud on the way there, telling him what we were going to do. By the time we were there they had taken her off nearly all the machines, except one that controlled her breathing.    “Are you ready?” Doctor Cloud asked, coming in and standing by Cheyenne’s bed. We all nodded and our children said their goodbyes to their mother as Doctor Cloud turned off the breathing machine and then removed it from her. I gently picked Cheyenne up, inhaling her scent once more as I held her close to me. I walked with Cheyenne in my arms, while our children, Doctor Cloud and the other medical staff walked behind us as we made our way to the backyard of the pack house, where Cheyenne loved to spend her time. I carefully lifted her up and placed her on the makeshift pyre, then gently kissed her lips and cheek.   “Goodbye, my love.” I whispered and then stood back from the pyre. Every single member of the pack was here to pay their respects to their fallen Luna. Each of my children took a torch and lit it, then placed it against the logs under the pyre, lighting it. I watched as the flames grew and engulfed my mate's body, until they were flying higher and higher, taking her body to the Moon Goddess. I shifted into my wolf and started to howl into the sky and soon enough everyone else followed suit, shifting and howling with me as we mourned Cheyenne. The neighbouring packs heard our howls and they all knew what had happened to Cheyenne two years ago, so they knew what we were doing now. I felt as all of the different pack wolves mind-linked me, passing on their condolences and how much they loved her, then I felt as they all shifted and joined us as we howled.   Ava’s P.O.V   I was just on my way back home, but I heard the howling and watched as everyone ran back to their homes, scared. Neither me nor them knew what was going on, but they all hurried to get inside, shutting and locking their doors, pulling down their blinds and not even looking out the windows. I pulled up outside my house and when I heard the howling getting louder I sat on my front porch and listened to it. It sounded so sad that I almost started to cry and I knew that whatever they were howling for it was a great loss. Something must have happened to make wolves howl like that, like they were mourning or in pain. I listened until it died down and then I went inside my home, hoping that whatever heartache or pain they were feeling would ease somehow.   Mercury’s P.O.V   I could feel as my chest was getting tighter, almost suffocating me and I felt like I couldn't do this. I could hear the neighbouring packs howling and I knew it was out of respect, which made me proud, but I couldn’t do this. I couldn’t live without my mate and then it started. I could feel myself shifting again, but it wasn’t my wolf, Asher, that was pushing me to shift, it was Shadow, my lycan. I knew he was doing this to help me heal, but all I could do was look at the flames that held my mate. Shadow rose his head up to the sky, howling the loudest howl anyone would ever hear, but the whole time I felt my son's eyes on me as he watched me closely. My lycan had tears in his eyes and then we both started running towards the flames, wanting to be with our mate, with Cheyenne. I had just reached near to them when suddenly Isaiah jumped on me and knocked me to the ground.   “DAD NO!!! YOU CAN’T LEAVE US TOO!! WE NEED YOU DAD!! PLEASE DON’T DO THIS!!!” Isaiah shouted at me, but my lycan and I growled, tossing him off of me. He went flying to the ground and I lifted my head once more, howling out with so much sadness. I ran into the pack house and up the stairs, kicking the door down to mine and Cheyenne’s room.   Isaiah’s P.O.V   My sisters wanted to follow after dad, but I told them to stay away and that I would go, knowing that right now dad was more dangerous as he only wanted his mate. If we weren't careful he would turn feral at this rate. I ran into the house just as I heard dad kicking down a door. I ran up the stairs and saw that he had gone into the room he shared with mom, but when I got into the doorway I saw that he was destroying everything. He looked so angry, so hurt and so heartbroken. He was breaking almost everything in the room.   “DAD STOP!!! YOU’RE DESTROYING EVERYTHING THAT YOU HAVE LEFT OF MOM!!! PLEASE STOP THIS!!!” I screamed at him, knowing that mentioning mom would catch his attention and it worked as dad’s lycan Shadow stopped. Shadow just stood there, staring and growling at me, as he came closer to me, but I didn’t move.   “What are you going to do dad? Are you going to break me too? Then what? It's not going to bring mom back, she's gone.” I said as tears started to stream down my face.   “I loved mom too, dad, I didn’t want her to do it, but she did. She had already made up her mind when she called us to the hospital. She told us to tell you that she loved you with all her heart, so she gave you hers, she said that we needed you more, dad, please come back to us, please daddy.” I said, crying. I felt like I was a little boy again, needing my father. I started to cry as I sat down on the bed.   “I miss her too, daddy. It's hard on us too, we can’t lose you too, dad. Please come back to us, we need you.” I said, still crying and then I heard my dad's lycan sighed. I watched as he raised his head up and gave out one last huge howl. Dad started shifting back into his human form and the next thing I knew I felt his arms wrapping around me, pulling me into a hug. My sisters came running into the room and stood there crying as they saw dad hugging me. They knew the same as what I did, that we had our father back.   Mercury’s P.O.V   Anna, Selena and Gabrielle all walked over and I pulled them into the hug I was having with their brother. I had let them down these past two years and I never meant to, but I was hurting, I was heartbroken and so were my wolf and lycan.   “Kids, I am so very sorry. I loved your mother so much and I’m not even sure I will be able to think straight without your mother here with me, but I promise I will try.” I said, wiping their tears away. I reached up and touched my chest, right where the scar was, where Cheyenne’s heart now was.   “Your mother is not only here with you, but she is also here forever. I have her heart inside me and it's never going to go anywhere. Come on, let's get this all cleaned up.” I said and they each touched my chest, feeling as their mothers heart carried on beating. We all got up and started cleaning up the mess my lycan and I had made.   “You do know that mom would have smacked you upside the head for doing this, right?” Selena said and we all started laughing.    “Yeah, she would but knowing her it would have been a few times.” I replied, laughing a little as her scent hit me again. It was all over the room and everything in it, but it would soon fade away and that day would be the worse one.
