Goldie’s P.O.V
I had finally got back to the pack house, but the young woman was a nervous wreck with how many people were around us, so I decided it was best to take her back to my house. I got her inside, took her straight up to the spare bedroom and sat her down on the bed. I went to the bathroom and turned the water on, filling the bathtub up, but when I went back into the bedroom she was no longer sitting on the bed. I turned and found her by the window looking out at the forest.
“Hey, the bath is ready, how about we get you cleaned up, yes?” I said, moving towards her. She turned to face me and nodded, but then she started shivering like she was terrified.
“Hey, hey, it's okay. No one is going to hurt you, but I need to get you cleaned up so that I can take a better look and see how bad your injuries are.” I said, wrapping my arms around her and hugging her. This girl was a nervous wreck and I would have to handle her very carefully after what she has been through. I slowly walked her into the bathroom and helped take the sheet off her, then helped her into the tub. She hissed as the water splashed against her open wounds and I felt bad for having to do this, but I needed to make sure her wounds wouldn’t get infected. I carefully washed her skin, trying my best not to hurt her and she seemed to relax a little after a few minutes. I heard the front door open and close, then I heard footsteps coming up here and I knew that my mate Trevor had come home.
“Goldie, are you okay? What happened?” Trevor asked, calling me from the bedroom. The young woman tensed up, but I just smiled and shook my head at her.
“It's okay, that’s my mate and the Beta of the pack, Trevor. You stay here and relax, get cleaned up and I’ll be right back, okay?” I said and she seemed to relax a little bit as she nodded. I went back into the bedroom to see my mate standing there with a look of concern on his face.
“Hey, what happened? I smelled blood.” Trevor asked and it took everything in me not to break down and cry. I told him everything that had happened, from what we saw when we first walked into that house, to how I found the girl and the state she was in. Trevor shook his head as he wrapped his arms around me, hugging me and comforting me before I went back into the bathroom and it was just what I needed.
“I’ll leave for a few while you tend to her, I don’t want her scared, but if you need anything just mind-link me.” Trevor said, kissing my forehead. I nodded and smiled as Trevor left, going to sit in the living room, then I went back into the bathroom and saw that she was struggling to wash herself without catching her injuries, which didn’t surprise me as she had that many. I walked over and sat at the side of the bath, taking a soft wash cloth and soaking it before applying it to her skin, careful not to hurt her.
“So, what is your name?” I asked, trying to distract her from being washed, but she just shook her head.
“I don’t know, they always just called me bait.” She replied, making me sigh. I thought about it for a few minutes and it didn’t feel right her not having a name, but did I have the right to give her a name?
“Well, do you have a name you like, one that you might want to be called?” I asked, hoping that it might jog her memory a little bit.
“Aurora.” She replied and I quickly nodded.
“Do you like that name?” I asked and she nodded.
“I like it, can I keep it?” She asked and I smiled at her. Aurora suited her.
“Yes, you sure can. Mercury and the other guys will be back in a few minutes, so he’s probably going to want to come here and see if you’re okay.” I said, but Aurora started shaking and I could see the fear in her eyes.
“Is...is he going to hurt me?” Aurora asked and I quickly shook my head.
“No, no sweetie, he’s not going to hurt you, I promise. You see, Mercury is an Alpha and the Alpha of a pack makes sure his family and friends are safe, that means you too. I promise you will be okay. Now come on, let's get you dried off and dressed.” I said and she slowly nodded. I helped her to stand and out of the tub, then handed her a towel to dry herself off with, giving me a much clearer view of her injuries.
Mercury’s P.O.V
I don’t know why Asher was really worried about this girl, she was just a girl, a girl that needed to be saved and nothing more. When we finally got home I knew I needed to go and see if she was okay, but I really didn’t want to and had to push myself to do it.
“Goldie, where are you and the girl?” I asked, mind-linking her.
“At mine, she was too scared with everyone around there, so I brought her here.” Goldie replied, mind-linking me back. I went to Goldie and Trevor’s house, knocked on the door and Trevor answered it.
“Hey man, come on in.” Trevor said, opening the door wider for me.
“Is she okay? How is she doing?” I asked, but he just shook his head.
“Goldie will be down in a second, but when I got home all I could smell was blood, so I went to see her and I could sense her fear when I called out for Goldie. Goldie told me everything that happened when you all found her, what the f**k was he doing to her and how long was he doing it for?” Trevor asked, just as Goldie came downstairs with the girl. She took her straight to the living room and sat her on the chair nearest the fire, then nodded for Trevor and I to follow her.
“How is she?” I asked, but Goldie shook her head.
“She is covered head to toe in bruises, but she is talking and she seems okay, but whether she actually is okay up here is another story.” Goldie replied, tapping her temple with her index finger. I nodded to her, knowing that this girl had been through hell and back and would probably have not only physical scars, but also mental ones too. Trevor went to the kitchen, while I walked into the living room and the young girl looked right up at me, but she looked really scared.
“What is your name, young pup?” I asked, but she shook her head.
“I had a reason to like the name Aurora, it's mine. It's my real name, Aurora Senka.” The young girl replied, but she wasn’t looking at me when she spoke, she was looking at Goldie.
“You remembered, that's great. Isn’t it?” Goldie asked, but the girl then looked at me.
“What do you remember about what happened to you, young pup?” I asked, hoping that if I called her young pup enough it might cause her to get angry and possibly let out her feelings.
“I’m not a young pup and I remember a lot. Those people took me from my home many years ago and they used me as bait, as well as other things. They killed my mother and father while we were out in the woods hunting. Can...can I go back to my pack now please?” Aurora asked and I nodded.
“Well of course you can. Do you remember who your Alpha is, honey, I might know him.” I asked, but then she sighed. She looked like she was thinking for a few minutes and then she looked up at me once more.
“It has been years since I have seen my own home and it makes me wonder if they will even take me back or still recognise me as a pack member, it's been so long. His name is or at least it was, Alpha Jazz, from what I can remember, but I’m not really sure if he is still alive or even the Alpha anymore.” Aurora replied and I quickly nodded.
“I know him and he is still alive and the Alpha. Give me a minute and I’ll give him a call.” I said, taking my phone out of my pocket and clicking on his number. I had met with Alpha Jazz many times and his pack wasn’t that far from here either, so this could all be sorted out a lot sooner. I put the phone on loud speaker as I waited for Alpha Jazz to answer.
“Hello Alpha Mercury, how are you doing?” Alpha Jazz said, answering the phone and Aurora’s eyes lit up like she had heard an old friend.
“Hello Alpha Jazz, I’m good thanks, I have someone here that you just might know.” I replied, looking at Aurora.
“Oh and who might that be then?” Alpha Jazz asked and I nodded for Aurora to speak.
“Alpha Jazz, it's me, Aurora. I hope you remember me or even my parents. They got killed when we were hunting….” Aurora said and I heard Alpha Jazz gasp.
“What happened to you? Where did you disappear to?” Alpha Jazz asked and I could hear the shock in his voice.
“When my parents were killed I was taken and used for bait, Alpha Mercury saved me.” Aurora replied and then there was nothing but silence on the other end of the phone for a few minutes.
“Aurora, I’ll be there in an hour, honey. We found your parents a few years back and we thought you were dead too, thankfully you’re not. I’m coming to get you and you’re coming home, Aurora.” Alpha Jazz said and Aurora’s eyes lit up again, but there was also a sadness in them.
“Alpha Jazz, I’m pretty beat up…”Aurora said, but then stopped.
“It's okay, honey, I’m on my way and I know that Alpha Mercury will get you taken care of until I get there. I’ll be there shortly, okay.” Alpha Jazz replied and then hung up the phone. Aurora’s mood seemed to have lifted a little bit after talking to him, but she also seemed a little distant.
“Goldie, can you give her some clothes?” I asked, looking at the dressing gown that hung off her. There was no way she could leave here dressed like that.
“Yeah sure, we need to try and cover her arms up, as I’m sure she won’t want everyone seeing what those bastards did to her.” Goldie replied, making me look at her arms. Aurora had the sleeves rolled up and I could clearly see her scars. Some of the newer ones overlapped the older ones, but each of them told a story of the abuse she had suffered at the hands of that bastard who liked to call her his daughter when she wasn’t.
“No, I’m okay. Those people are dead and I’m not scared to show my scars.” Aurora said, shaking her head and we both nodded. This girl was a lot stronger and braver than I initially thought she was. After a few minutes of talking Trevor came back into the living room with a tray filled with homemade pizza, so we all dug in and ate, but Aurora only ate a small amount, probably due to being starved for so long.
Alpha Jazz’s P.O.V
I was surprised to get a call from Alpha Mercury, but I was even more surprised when I heard Aurora’s voice on the phone. She sounded so broken when she spoke, so I got in my jeep and rushed right over to Alpha Mercury’s territory. He must have notified the guards on the gates as they let me straight through and gave me directions to where I needed to go. Thankfully it was easy to find and an hour after my phone call with her I was pulling up in front of a house. I parked up and got out of my jeep, then walked up and knocked on the front door. I stood there waiting and then the door opened and Alpha Mercury was standing there.
“Hey man, listen there are some things you need to know before you go inside and see her. She is bruised up pretty badly, from head to toe to be exact and she has scars. Goldie helped her get cleaned up and she had a few open wounds, but most of it was dried blood. Her face is pretty badly bruised up and she has been through a hell of a lot. I don’t know what they did to her, but she said she was used as bait and I don’t know what that means. Maybe when you get her back home to her pck she will talk to you.” Alpha Mercury said, preparing me and I nodded.
“Thank you for saving her and calling me. I better go inside and get this over with, so I can get her back home.” I said and Mercury nodded. I honestly didn’t care what Mercury was saying because I couldn’t concentrate, my wolf was going crazy in my mind, so I went inside to see her. I was a little taken back when I laid eyes on her, especially her arms and legs which were covered in bruises that were fading and scars, both old and new. The bruises on her face were a mixture of purple, blue, black, yellow and brown, but she still looked so beautiful. When we were young I knew she was my mate, but she hadn’t shifted, so I had to wait until she had shifted and then her parents were killed and she was nowhere to be found. After years of searching for her we all assumed she was dead and because we hadn’t marked or mated with each other I couldn’t feel her through the mate bond. I could smell her sweet scent and it took me back to the first time I smelled it. I walked over to her and she slowly looked up at me, but then she sniffed the air and I knew that she had caught my scent.
“Mate. Mine.” We both said at the same time. I reached out and touched her swollen cheek as I looked into her eyes.
“I waited for you for so long.” I said, taking her hands in mine and carefully helping her up. She was a lot thinner than I remembered and the torture that they had inflicted on her was clearly visible with how she winced when she moved. I just hoped that my touch would give her some comfort, some sort of relief from the pain.
“Thank you, Alpha Mercury. Thank you for saving my mate, I am in your debt, so how much do I owe you or what do you want?” I asked, but he just waved his hand at me.
“No, you don’t owe me anything and I don’t want anything except for you to take her home and take care of her the way she should have been taken care of from the start.” Alpha Mercury replied and I quickly nodded.
“I will definitely be doing that for the rest of our lives. Thank you, thank you once again. If you don’t mind, we will be leaving now as I want to take her to the pack hospital on my territory to make sure she’s okay and I want to get her back home.” I said and he nodded.
“Of course, I will walk you both out. Goldie, Trevor, after this I am going back to the pack house to get some work done, why don’t you two rest up.” Alpha Mercury said and the man and woman both nodded and smiled at him.
“Goodbye Alpha Jazz, Luna Aurora, I wish you both the best of luck.” Alpha Mercury said and it felt great to hear my mate being called Luna. I nodded and said our goodbyes to him, then helped Aurora into my jeep and put her seat belt on. She was so frail and tired that she soon drifted off to sleep as I started driving. Finally my mate was with me and there was no way I was going to lose her again.
