"You’re still coming to the concert, right?" Julia asks me as we head home.
"Not if Talia is coming."
As I said earlier, I’m not the type to get into fights, and that girl knows how to push my buttons.
"Like hell I’d let her."
"You said you’d talk to my mom for me." I know I could do it myself, but I want my mom to be on good terms with Julia—if not her mom, then at least my friend.
"You really want her to kill me."
"She won’t. Come on, let’s go." I drag her to the parking lot, then suddenly remember that Robert isn’t picking me up today.
"We’ll go with Luke’s car."
"Why? Where’s Robert?"
"He’s busy," I lie.
But Julia can always see right through my lies. She raises an eyebrow, and I give in.
