CHAPTER 5

I received a text from Nikolai saying we should meet and talk. That was two days ago. I haven't replied his text, he called several times during the last two days but I haven't called him yet. I wasn't sure of what I was going to say yet. So I decided to avoid him and everybody until I knew what I wanted to do. I've been sitting in at home with my weird cravings. Colly went on a trip two days ago and hasn't come back yet so I've been alone for two days. The door opened and I saw Colly. I swear I wanted to run and give her a hug but I'm f*****g tired.

"No hug for your best friend?"she pouted as she sat beside me.

"I'm tired" I said giving her a kiss. "How was the trip?"

"About that. I went to Greece."

"Greece? What for? You did not tell me you had any relations in Greece"

"I have no relations in Greece. I went there because of you"

"Me?"

"Yes. I did some investigation and found out Nikolai is Greek. Greeks as you know are exceptionally traditionalists and his family is no exception. They would never allow their blood to be born as illegitimate especially an heir."

"An heir?"

"Nikolai is an heir and his first child is his heir. Anyways his parents are aware you carry the next heir and have promised to do something about it."

"Oh my God Colly. That's why he has been calling me. I can't believe you did that for me."

"Why won't I do that. I know you ran out of options and I knew you would be skeptical about meeting his parents if I mentioned it so I decided to go myself"

"You are right. I would have hesitated. I know I'm desperate but not that desperate. Thanks anyways. The past week you've been here for me and helped me deal with this whole situation and I haven't even asked if you are all right and all" I was already sobbing. She pulled me into her arms and began to pat my back.

"Stop crying. That's what friends are for right. And you are like the sister I never had. I'll do anything for you"

"It's the hormones. By the way how are things between you and Viktor? Are you an item already?"

"Pfft... Item? We are not an item, more like f**k buddies. We agreed to exclusively f**k each other no strings attached."

"And you are okay with it? You want nothing more?"

"Viktor doesn't do commitment and I'm okay with how things are?"

"What of when things change?. What if you fall for each other"

"Nothing will change. I'm going to make something for us to eat. Do well to call Nikolai".

"Sure" but I wasn't going to call him today.

Colly made her special pasta that we ate that evening while we watched Netflix until we went to bed.

I rushed to the bathroom and threw up in the toilet until I started dry heaving. I washed my mouth and face and entered my room. Colly entered as I lay down again.

"You have a visitor"

"I'm not expecting anybody"

"Of course you're not. It's your baby daddy."

"Nikolai?. He is here? It's too early."

"Yes it is but he is here. Wear something and come downstairs."

I quickly threw a big shirt over my shorts and went outside. Nikolai sat with his legs crossed, his attention on the phone in his hands. The living room looked small with his presence. He looked remarkable in his suit.

"Are you going to stand there all day?"he said not looking up from his phone. I ignored him and sat down opposite him, a table between us.

"Pack your things. You are leaving with me."

"I...."he held his hands up

"Your nosy friend got my parents involved and you finally get what you wanted. You'll move in with me until you have the baby. After their birth we'll have a DNA test, if the child is mine, we get married if not... I'll leave that until the result gets out"

"That I can agree to but you have to act as a real husband when I go to visit my parents."

"No.. my driver will be here to pick you tomorrow at noon. That should be enough time for you to pack your things." And he walked out. I sat with my mouth hung open.

"Geez.. your baby daddy is rude. And hot"

"That he is... Wait. You were eavesdropping?"

"That's within my right as your best friend. To eavesdrop on matters concerning you.

I rolled my eyes. "You are totally unbelievable. Come help me pack. Baby daddy's driver will be here at noon tomorrow."

"Yeah tomorrow. You don't have to pack now. You sound eager to leave."

"Oh come on. Don't say that. You are my favourite person. Why would I want to leave you."

"Well, now I have to look for another housemate. What if she is psycho? Or a serial killer? I'm so going to so miss you"

"I'm going to miss you too. But we'll always see each other at work."I pulled her to me.

"Right. As if that consoles me." I chuckled and pulled her along.

Nikolai's driver picked me up at noon yesterday and dropped me at his mansion and I'm yet to see him. An elderly woman Mrs. Paula had come this morning to clean and prepare breakfast. I made little conversation with her until she left. I took today off from work to settle in.

I rolled on the bed and reached for my phone on the nightstand. I stretched and sat up only to see Nikolai sitting on the armchair looking at me. Okay that is f*****g creepy.

"Get ready. We are having dinner with my parents at eight." he stood and walked out. I flinched at the sound of the door slamming. Looks like someone is on his period.
