Stella rushed into the New Haven FBI offices, feeling as if the pressure was intensifying from all directions. At the same time, she was relieved to have a case to focus on.
She felt the familiar thrill of nervousness and excitement at the thought of what would be waiting. What case would it be? What had happened?
And even more importantly, who would she be partnered with?
Both she and Special Agent Rick Maxwell had requested that Roth partner them together for the next case. She felt ready to join up with Maxwell again, for work at least, though not for the budding romance that had caused such a disaster between them. She was steering clear of that. Maybe forever, but at least until his pathologically jealous ex-wife was firmly out of the picture.
