Madeline POV
“May I have this dance?” his blue eyes sought out my soul as he gazed into my grey ones through our masks. Something about the way he was looking at me felt so familiar.
“You may,” I said with a smile and felt his arm snake around my waist as he pressed my body up against his. My breath hitched as his other hand took mine in his and I felt tingles shoot up my arm from his touch. My face creased with confusion. He started to move us effortlessly around the dance floor. Soon enough, I am completely swept up in the moment. Drinking him in as he swirled me and held me close once again. He never took his eyes off mine and my body started to heat up from the sizzling chemistry between us. I don’t think I have ever been so turned on in my life. His face had changed to one of passion and intensity, no more jokes or mischief as the tension between us thickened. The background of the room faded away and it was only us. He suddenly span me fast and caught me, dipping my body low towards the ground as he leaned forward and ran his nose up my throat. I released a moan as his lips kissed my jaw line and opened my eyes to gaze into his.
“Are you ready to make a deal with the devil now?” he whispered, his face so close to mine, his breath fanned my face. My eyes widened at his words as fear crept in. No. It can’t be.
I stood up, pushed him off, and took a step back. He smirked wickedly and I knew it was him. It’s Arius.
Suddenly, I felt a pair of strong arms thread around my waist as Isaac rested his chin on my shoulder. “Ready to dance with me?” he said seductively, oblivious to the demon that was standing before us. My body was stiff as my gaze never left Arius' fake blue eyes. Evil flashed across them as he looked down at Isaacs' hands on me. I stepped away from Isaac but he gripped onto me, spinning my body into his with a cheeky grin and started swaying to the music. My heart thumped in my chest as I glanced over his shoulder and saw my terrifying mate step menacingly towards us. I wriggled in Isaac’s grip trying to get out, knowing that Arius was about to loose his sh*t.
“Get your hands off her,” he growled through gritted teeth. It was so loud that a few couples near by stopped dancing and turned to watch the scene unfold. Isaac turned around to face the angry voice and chuckled.
“Sorry?” He said in a light hearted tone, as if he couldn’t believe someone would interrupt us. I was frozen in fear.
“Get your hands off her,” his voice rippled through the air, sending a shiver down my spine. Isaac looked at me confused and saw the horror on my face. He turned around properly, pushing me behind his back to protect me from my mate.
“Who the hell are you?” Isaac growled back at him. And then everything changed.
Arius lifted his black diamond mask off his face and as he did, his image transformed. His brown hair changed to jet black and one of his ocean blue eyes changed back to dark brown. Suddenly, the spell was broken and he no longer smelt like a werewolf. The scent of rosewood flooded my senses and Nina purred in my mind, “MATE.”
His powerful aura engulfed the room and the music stopped as everyone jumped away from him in alarm. Isaac’s body tensed before me as he recognised who he was. His wondrous eyes drank me in and I felt the pull towards him even more than before. He fooled me. He was showing me that without his reputation, I wanted him. Anger boiled inside. I stepped forwards towards him to slap him or scream at him. I didn’t know which yet, but Isaac grabbed my arm to pull me back.
Arius saw red. He lifted his hand as his eyes glowed purple and sent Isaac flying across the room. Growls erupted from warriors at seeing one of their own attacked and their eyes turned black. Before I knew what was happening, Arius pulled me to his chest and wrapped his arms around my back, holding me close. He clicked his fingers and the room started spinning as we were submerged beneath a fog of purple smoke. I squeezed my eyes shut as I gripped his suit jacket and screamed.
Suddenly, everything was still and when I opened my eyes, I found us standing alone in the middle of a majestic forest. I pushed my kidnapper off me as I took a few steps away from him. His eyes had returned to their distinctive two tones and his face was unreadable. I gulped as I looked around our surroundings, wondering where he had taken me.
My eyes widened in shock as I saw a large modern cabin in the distance through the trees. One that I spent time at not so long ago. Cora’s house.
He stepped towards me and grabbed my wrist, dragging me towards the house. I resisted, digging my heels in the ground and fighting against his hold. “Let go of me! What are you doing? Take me back!” I screamed. He spun around and swiftly bent down, lifting me over his shoulder as he started to stalk towards the house. I punched his back and kicked my legs but it did nothing to deter him. Once we reached the front door, he opened it with a flick of his wrist and threw me down onto the sheepskin sofa carelessly.
“Stay here,” he growled as he locked the door from the inside and clicked his fingers once again, disappearing before my eyes.
