Chapter Six

1346 Words
Madeline POV It’s been two hours since Arius left me here alone. I have tried every door and every window in the house but they all seem to have some kind of magical barrier against them. I can’t even touch the door handle without a volt of electricity painfully shooting up my hand. I walk into the kitchen and rummage around looking for a weapon of some kind to protect myself. A knife wont do. I need wood. Silver effects werewolves. Wood affects Vampires. I find a wooden spoon in one of the drawers and pull out a knife. I start to hack at it until it has a nice sharp point at the end of the handle. Perfect. I flop back down on the sofa, hiding the spoon down the side of the seat, out of sight and take a look around. Nothing has changed. Everything is exactly the same as when Cora and I left the day we flew to America for the battle. “Oh Cora, I bet you are laughing down on me right now! Mated to your son!” I shout up at the ceiling. My head snaps at the door as I hear the lock turn and the front door open. My heart starts pounding as Arius walks into the room, slamming the door behind him. His black hair is more floppy than before, as if he has been doing something active and a few strands fall into his eyes, giving him a youthful appearance. He stops and looks at me with a blank expression and that’s when I gasp. I can see dried blood all down his neck and chest. Luckily, he is wearing black but I can tell it is all over him. I stand up abruptly as fear vibrates through me. Did he go back to the pack? Did he hurt them? “Whose blood is that?” I shout, my voice quivering at the end. He strolls into the kitchen and pulls a bottle of water out of the fridge before taking large gulps. “I said whose blood is that?!” My voice is angrier now. More determined. If he had hurt any of my friends. Any of my pack. He shuts the fridge aggressively and leans his body against the kitchen side, crossing his arms. “No one that matters.” “What does that mean? What did you do?” I take fierce steps towards him and his eyes burn into mine, warning me but I don’t back down. “I swear to the goddess, if you hurt any of my friends, I will kill you!” His expressionless face creases into an amused smirk and rage boils inside me, “What is so funny?” He uncrosses his arms and steps towards me so we are toe to toe and looks down from his towering height. He is trying to intimidate me, but I don’t let him. I keep my feet glued to the spot even though I want to step back. “I’d just like to know how you plan on killing me?” his tone is full of humour. I glare up at him and narrow my eyes, “I am more resourceful than you think.” His hypnotic eyes sparkle and he chuckles. My core tightens at the noise as pleasure bubbles inside me. I internally curse myself. He walks away and heads up the stairs without looking back at me. “Where are you going?” I shout up at him. “To have a shower,” he replies coolly. I stand motionless for a moment wondering what my choices are. I didn’t seem to have many. I didn’t know anything more than I did a few minutes ago. I still don’t know whose blood that was. Where he had been or what he plans to do with me. I run to the door to see if the magic was gone now he was back. “Ah s**t!” I say as my hand burns from the handle. I can only see two ways out of this. Either I kill him or he kills me. I race over to the sofa and pull out the wooden spoon, now carved into a little spear. I take a deep breath as I start to climb the stairs. The sound of the powerful shower comes from the bathroom and I see that the door is slightly ajar. I hover outside as I contemplate what I was about to do. What choice did I have? This is possibly the best opportunity I will get to be rid of him. I push the door open silently and the steam from the room hits me as my eyes adjust. I gulp as my eyes roam my naked mate’s back, my heart tugs as I see lots of large scars across it in all different directions. His muscles ripple as he rubs his hands through his hair under the water, unaware of my presence. I take a moment to appreciate how f*****g sexy he is as my eyes fall on his ass and down to his muscular legs. I step closer and closer until I am close enough but he turns rapidly and his eyes widen as he sees what I am holding. My courage falters slightly as we stare at each other fiercely. Suddenly, he grabs my upper arms and rams me against his naked soaking my body under the shower. I gasp and hold the spike up against his throat as he gazes intensely into my eyes. “What’s the plan, little wolf? You’re going to kill me?” his voice is deep and raw as he pulls me against him tighter. I can feel every inch of his body against mine as the silk of my dress clings to my curves like a second skin under the cascading water. “Yes,” I say pushing the spear into him a little more and see it start to sizzle against his smooth skin. He doesn’t react. Instead, he lifts his hand and covers mine holding the spear. He drags the spear lower down his body towards his chest. The wood leaves a burning trail along his skin as my eyes widen at what he is doing. When the sharpest point of the spoon is inline with his chest, he releases my hand and I look up at him confused. “If you are going to do it, stab me in the heart. It has always been yours to break.” His voice is full of emotion but his face is still cold and intense. My own heart flutters at his words. He isn’t going to fight me. He isn’t going to stop me. He is going to let me kill him. He is giving me an out. My bottom lip quivers as I stare into his eyes and my resolve wavers. Nina is growling in my head, protesting my actions. I can’t do it. I can’t kill my mate no matter who he is. I drop the spoon and my hand rests on his chest instead. In a flash, his lips are on mine and his hands are in my wet hair as water glides down our skin and I feel a fire light inside me. His lips are so soft, so inviting. My arms instinctively wrap around his neck as he deepens the kiss and I feel his tongue enter my mouth, possessing me. Fireworks explode in my body as the euphoric feeling increases. I had never been kissed like this in my entire life. With so much desire and passion. Suddenly, my brain clicks, and I remember who I am kissing. I break away abruptly and slap him across the face. He doesn’t react as I run from the room, leaving a trail of water on the floor. I race into a bedroom and slam the door, sliding down it in despair. Wrapping my arms around my knees, a sob escapes my mouth. What am I going to do now?
