Chapter 4 A month passed, during which Brian and Conley cemented their friendship. Brian made it a practice to cook dinner for them on his days off. He discovered making vegetarian meals wasn’t as hard as he’d expected, and they were pretty good as well, with the right spices. Conley continued working on Alistair’s library—but slowly. Once he finished there would be no reason for him to be at the house except to take care of the yard and spend time with Sir Kenith. By then it was late August and the weather was hot and dry.
