Chapter 27 - The Pinkie

Lucis stood there in full armor, he was looking down his nose at Mandrake, his mouth set in a snarl, if it hadn’t heard it I wouldn’t have believed it, but Lucis actually growled at Mandrake.

Mandrake stood up, he was only a few centimeters taller than Lucis but he was definitely bigger than he was.

“stat your business” Mandrake snapped at Lucis

“I am here to get my girl,” he said smoothly, but his words held acid in them. “you, Neanderthals took her”

“We helped her,” Mandrake said looking from me back to Lucis

“helped her? You caused her dragon to go into a frenzy, ow is that helpful?”

“she was badly hurt by the werewolf” Mandrake snapped, now walking closer towards Lucis,

“she killed the thing by herself I don’t see why she need help from the like of you and your men”

“stop” I snapped getting in between them “I’ll help tomorrow and then we will be on our way,” I said looking from Mandrake to Lucis and frowning at him,

“fine, we leave at Dawn”

Dawn had arrived and the men of the camp were going around gathering weapons and somethings wrapped in a white kind of cloth. Lucis and Mandrake were busy playing my c**k is bigger than your c**k again by sizing one another up I shook my head as I leaned against Draco’s leg, Draco himself seemed amused by the two men, he had spent most of the morning watching them trying to one-up each other, I couldn’t help but think that the two of them might end up getting the whole killed. I looked up a Draco looked like he winked down at me. I sighed and pushed up off his leg and walked towards the two men

“that’s enough,” I said using my big girl voice “I’m in charge now seeing as you two peacocks can’t stop trying to show each other up” both men made a move to tell me off but I raised my hand to shut them up

“who has the big nasty fair breathing dragon?” I asked, “oh, that’s right me, and if you two knuckleheads don’t knock it off, things are going to get crispy, you got it?” I said looking at the two of them with my arms crossed over my chest they both nodded

“Great, now which way?”

We had been walking for a while when a small cave came up, if you hadn’t been looking for it, you wouldn’t have seen it, it was set in a small amount of white stone, the sun shining on the white stone causing the perfect reflection to almost completely hide the entrance. The men that had come with started setting up around the cave entrance, opening the white sheets to reveal bloody, raw meat. I looked over at Mandrake who was standing with Lucis, the two of them were talking, pointing at different locations around the cave.  I walked over to them hoping that they were actually doing something productive

“she’s not going in alone, it’s a f*****g Pinkie in there” aaaand no such luck I guess

“the pinkie ain't going to give her a second thought she can get in and out” Mandrake bellowed back at Lucis

“that’s enough, f**k it are you 10 years old?” I scolded “first off, I can do this on my own I killed a f*****g werewolf on my own, second I am the only one that is going to fit in there, and third, both of you shut the f**k up and get out of my way” I walked up to the cave, looking at the small opening

“Lilith” I looked back at Mandrake “my little girl, Cassie has blue eyes, that shine in the dark, the Pinkie has green, keep an eye out for that” I nodded at him looking back at Lucis, he looked at me with daggers. I huffed at the ground and walked over to him again

“you know I can do this,” I said softly touching his face

“I watched you with the werewolf, that thing could have killed-“

“but I killed it because you taught me enough to get me through, in and out,” I said holding up my pinky finger, he looked defeated but he wrapped his pinky around mine,

“don’t take too long” he took my face in his hands and kissed me.

Both men had their heads in the entrance of the cave as I crawled into it, it was wide enough for a while as I went, as I got deeper, the light that was coming from the outside was now a small dot. I was plunged into darkness. The space I moved in was getting smaller and smaller and soon I was leopard crawling on the ground, trying to over rocks and taking tight corners all the while trying my best to not hit my head on anything. The heat in the cave was unimaginable, drips of sweat ran down my face, I felt sticky and the fact that I was crawling in dirt and dust helped nothing. I came to a small pocket in the trail. I sat against the wall trying to catch my breath as I tore a piece of material from my shirt, pulling my hair up into a bun, and wrapped the strip around it, and secured it. I sat for a few seconds listening to the sound of heavy breathing

“how do I keep getting into these situations,” I asked myself whipping my face, getting annoyed by the sand that I dragged across it, I must look like a mess, perfect just freaking perfect, something scurred in the distance I held my breath as I listened, I luckily was able to see in the dark, I sat still listening again, it had gone quiet again. I pushed off onto my knees again and made my back on the trail, moving slowly and trying to listen as I went. I carried on for a few more seconds when something suddenly occurred to me, how the f**k am I supposed to get a child out of here, while I was struggling to pass-through?

“f**k I” I shouted, I didn’t mean to it just slipped out

“Hello?” came a small voice I stopped and looked around me

“Cassie?” I called out there was a long pause but she finally answered

“yes?” her voice was soft

“Are you alone?” I asked

“the thingy just ran off” she answered

“I need you to keep talking so I can follow your voice, can you do that?” she kept quiet for a few seconds,

“what should I talk about?” she asked, she sounded frightened

“do you know a song?”

“I know the one daddy aught me”

“good,” I said pushing myself through two rocks “ah, can you teach it to me?”

She went quiet again I stopped moving waiting for her so I could figure out which way to go

“the moon, she shines” came a small voice 

“that a girl” I  cooed her

“she bathes the world in her light” I moved forward for a bit realizing that I had gone too far, I backed track feeling the walls for another opening, I found after a few seconds, basically falling into it be completely honest.

“she heals the broken,” I could hear her voice getting louder as I moved through the cave. this area wasn’t as squished, it was getting bigger as I carried on. I stopped to take a few deep breaths, something rushed past me, bumping into my leg, I let out a scream, solacing myself quickly when I heard Cassie gasp

“keep going,” I said “keep singing everything is okay” I looked up seeing two glowing dots in front of me, heavy breathing along with a rancid breath. I closed my eyes knowing that I was looking at the damn Pinkie in his damn eyes, the f*****g thing was right in front of me, I closed my eyes, Cassie carried on singing the song about the moon. I reached down and pulled my knife from my boot, as I looked up again the f*****g thing literally ran over me going the way I had just come. I let out a breath, making sure not to scream again. Cassie’s outline came into view as I went on, she was sitting in a pocket of space.

“Cassie?” I said softly as I reached out to her, she gasped and looked up, two glowing balls of blue shone where I assumed was her eyes.

“Who are you?,” she asked, moving backward, I heard her head lightly thump against the cave wall

“your dad sent me to help you get out of her.

“it’ll be back, it always comes back,” she said staying put

“yes but by that time we will have you out of here okay?” she nodded but again she stayed still. I reached my hand out towards her.

I kept Cassie in front of me as we went through the maze of tunnels. We had made it to the first pocket I had found, sitting squished in the small space as we took deep breaths before pushing on.

Soon the small dot of light was sinning in the distance

“almost there” I whispered to her but she had stopped completely I looked up to see the glowing green eyes ahead of us. Cassie backed up pushed herself under me as the Pinkie started making its way towards us hissing and spitting.
