Down the road
Carol
After we met with Sashel in front of the caffee we walked a few blocks and arrived to a crowded club. The waiting line at the entrance was so long that it ended up in the corner of the street. I sighed and stared sadly at the line. Sashel noticed and she grabbed my arm pulling me with her. We received many angry glances.
- We shouldn't do this. - I whispered to my new friend and a girl grabbed my other hand. I looked at her and she stared at me like I was the devil himself.
- The end of the line is back there! - she hissed between her teeth and just when I was ready to say something Sashel snapped at the girl.
- Do you have any idea who we are? - the girl now looked confused and let my hand go. She frowned and asked with her hands on her waist.
- Who the hell are you two?- she asked and Sashel grinned and whispered.
- Run! - Sashel started to run pulling me with her. We arrived to the entrance and a bald, tall , muscular, black man stood in front of us. His white shirt almost gave up the fight covering his insane muscles. First he seemed annoyed, than his eyes widened and he show us his white teeth.
- Hey babe! What are you doing here? - he asked checking out Sashel from head to toe. She gave him a flirty smile and said.
- Causing trouble as always!-the guard looked behind us at the annoyed crowd and chuckled.
- I see. - Sashel ran her fingers up at his chest and his mouth curved for a pleased smile.
- Will you let us in? - he looked down at her than at me and nodded. But before we could've entered he put his arm across the door frame and leaned closer to Sashel.
- With one condition. - she smiled and said.
- Name your price. - I looked at him while his eyes shined at my friend.
- A dinner with me. You know how long I've been waiting for this opportunity. - Sashel blushed a little and said.
- Fine! - she turned to me and added.
- I hope you will feel f*****g amazing because this club seems to get more expensive each time I come here. - the guard laughed at her mocking tone and let us in. The music was loud and the place was filled with happily chatting and dancing people. I turned to Sashel.
-Who was him? - she pulled me to one of the bar chairs and we sat down.
- His name is Omar. He is in love with me which I can't blame him for. You know what I mean. Look at this half goddess. - she said and motioned all over her body.
- You didn't seem indifferent with him either. - I teased her and before reacting to my comment she ordered two s*x on the beach for us.
- Maybe I'm not. But I won't give myself easily. I'm worth fighting for. - she winked and drank a bit of her drink. The music changed and she jumped up pulling me with her.
- This is my jam! Let's dance! - I giggled and followed her. First I felt a bit uncomfortable, Sashel moved to the rhythm of the music like she was the ocean wave in the wind. Soon I also got the feeling and let my self free to enjoy the night. We danced and drank. I got to know my new friend a lot better and we shared our life stories with each other. Later on while we danced again someone sneaked behind me and started to held my waist. I turned around angrily and slapped the uninvited guest. The guy who tried to dance with me without asking seemed to get furious. But before he could've say a thing another guy came and hugged me by my shoulder asking.
- Is everything fine darling? Who is your new friend? - he asked looking at the man I just slapped. He walked away and I shrugged off his arm.
- I can handle myself. - I said to him but there was something in that smile he gave me that made my knees weak. He was tall, fit, with piercing blue eyes and black hair.
- I see, but sometimes is good to have a helping hand around. My name is Tony, and yours? - I started at him and tried to find out what was so intimidating about him.
- Carol.-Tony gave a tiny kiss on the top of my hand like he was a real gentleman. He invited me for another drink and we also danced. The way our bodies moved together was magical and it felt so natural. I've never met anyone before who brought these feelings out of me. After hours of dancing he offered to walk me home. Sashel looked at him sceptical but she didn't want to ruin my fun. So when we were about to leave she yawned.
- Carol I'm so tired. I think I'll just ask Omar to take me home. Since you already got a company. - I looked at her and asked.
- Are you sure? We came together we should leave together as well. - but Sashel winked at meg and faked another yawn.
- Hundred percent. The night is still young you should enjoy it before your working days come! - I hugged her gently and she squeezed me whispering into my ear.
- Take care and just in case send me a message when you arrive home! - I smiled and whispered back.
- I will. Thanks for everything!- she broke our hug and said.
- Anytime! We girls must stick together! - We both laughed and said our goodbyes. Tony offered his arm and I locked mine with his. While we were walking back to my apartment he asked.
- So where do you come from? You are clearly not from New York.-I blushed.
- I come from a little village far away from here.
- Are you visiting someone?
- No, I just moved here. Sashel is my first friend in the Big city and I just met her earlier today. - Tony smiled and kept asking me questions which seemed to be the typical fist date types. After twenty minutes of walk we got to know each other like we were old friends. When we arrived to my door he pulled out his phone and told me to write down my number. I found him attractive and cute so I did.
Never even in my wildest dreams I imagined what came after that night....
Eighteen years later...
Noelle
- Don't you dare to talk to me like that young lady! I did everything for you!
- If you would've done anything for me, we didn't move all the time! I don't have any friends!
- That is not my problem!- I rushed out of the apartment and shut the door behind me. My mother was so horrible when she was drunk. I walked to the bus station and waited for the bus which took me to high-school. This year was my last one and mom promised me to stay here until I finish it. However she always made this kind of promises which she never kept. Ever since I know my mind, we have been moving around the country. At first I enjoyed it as a kid but later on I realised how many things I missed because of this lifestyle. My mother Carol is a great hairdresser and when she is sober she is a cool mom. But sadly she became alcoholic when I was around twelve years old. I can clearly remember that day when all this nightmare started. I won the running competition at the school I was in back then. My mother instead of being proud when the other parents talked about my almost unhuman speed she freaked out and we moved that same day. That night she cried and shivered in the kitchen but when I asked her why she was so upset she started to drink and scream with me about having no idea what she have been through and stuff like this. From that day my childhood was over. Honestly I'm getting used to this. I have lots of hobbies but I couldn't get into any club to learn more. Other parents want their child to be outstanding, but Carol Smith... She wants me to blend in and be invisible. It is not an easy task given that I have quiet a temper, also I have an unusual look. My hair is red as a fox and almost curly, my eyes have a golden and dark green colour. My skin is white as snow and I have really nice curves. In every school I've been guys always found me interesting and sexy but they never approached me. When I complained about this to my mother she was happy and said.
- That way you are safe. Men can't bare strong and beautiful women. Their ego would be hurt if the woman they are with is better than them. - she finished her monologue and poured another drink. The bus arrived and I sat on it. Today was my eighteenth birthday and mom was even more difficult to handle than usual. Like she was afraid of something I may do.
