Chapter 9

2036 Words
Dominic's POV I watched as they went on their date. Everything was fine until I watched him kiss her and to be perfectly honest, I didn't know who I was more jealous of. Him or her because I haven't been able to stop thinking about the way he kissed me. His lips were rough and the scruff on his face rubbing against mine did something to me. I've always known this about myself, but I've never allowed myself to explore it. My father always spoke so badly about those who weren't straight, and I fought the idea for a long time but now that he is gone, I've accepted more of it, but I don't know that I can still allow myself to cross that line no matter how much I want to. I sent him a text telling him to shut it down and that he better not sleep with her. He immediately left and I watched her walk away with the biggest smile on her face. I followed her on her tracker, and she went to the grocery store, so it was time to put my next plan into action. I drove to her apartment quickly and ran up the stairs and picked all of her locks. I went inside and as usual the apartment was clean, and her black rose was in a cup on the counter. I smiled to myself and left her apartment with the door cracked open and went down to my car and waited for her to get home. I watched on my phone making sure that no one went in there and the sheer look of panic on her face when she got home made me smile just a little. I left my parking spot and headed back to my apartment when my phone rang. It rang non-stop anymore. Daily calls from everyone but Ace. This time it was him and he would only call when he had information for me. "Hey," I said, answering the phone. "How are you?" he asked, making pleasantries. "I'm fine, now stop with the damn small talk and tell me what you found out." "I think she has a brother." "No, she doesn't have any family. Well, that is what she told me. She said her mother died when she was young and that she was basically on her own since then." "She makes large deposits into an account several times a month. The name on the account belongs to Clay Holloway. Money gets paid out each month to Cedar Hills Living Center." "Why would she have a brother there? That is also not the same last name that she gave me." "Really? She has done nothing but lie to you. Do you really think her name is Amaya? Also, from the information that I can gather he is very disabled and needs around the clock care. She pays for it." "Can you find out for sure? I need to know everything." "I'll work on it, but can you at least come home sometime soon?" "I will once I get this taken care of here." "When is that going to be? We miss you and besides you're going to get another niece or nephew in a few months, and you haven't met Daisy yet." "I know and I'm sorry about that. I do want to meet her and see everyone, but I really need to take care of this. She took a year of my life. Because of her I missed everything. I had to grieve your death alone in a jail cell. I missed so much that I should have been a part of. I'm not letting her get away with it." "Fine, just come home this weekend? We are having a BBQ. All of us, plus your sister is going mad with what you are doing." "I'll think about it." "I will look further into this Clay Holloway and maybe do a search for Amaya Holloway. When I know something, I will call you." "Sounds good. Thanks man." "Also seriously think about coming home this weekend." "I said I would," I told him and hung up before he could guilt me into anything else. I pulled into my apartment and parked in the back and went up to my room. Ready to call it a day. I had to plan my next move for her. I knew the next card would send her into a panic. I wouldn't be surprised if she ran and so I needed to give it a little time. I wanted her to get closer to Jake. I was going to pull the rug out from under her like she did me. After making some dinner I pulled the app up on my phone and watched as her and some guy changed the locks on her door. I wasn't expecting her to do that. I knew she had the money to pay for it because I had given her over two grand in the last two weeks. I watched her on my phone while I googled her under Amaya Holloway but found nothing. I looked up the home that Ace had said that her brother or what we were assuming was her brother was in. They had all sorts of services listed but most of it was for people needing somewhere to be while they died. It had around the clock care and looked expensive. I reviewed the staff members, and I didn't know a single one. I wasn't sure if this was information that I could just buy like I normally did. I would wait and see what Ace could find and if nothing maybe I would go visit him if I went home this weekend. I closed down the laptop and watched as Amaya locked the doors and moved around her house. She went and checked her locks several times before finally going to bed. Once she was asleep, I turned in for the night as well. The rest of the week went much the same. I followed her around to work and watched her on the camera. She and Jake had gone out and he made sure she was getting more to eat. She didn't look deathly skinny with sunken eyes anymore. When Friday morning rolled around, I called Jake and asked him to come to the apartment. I paced around going from room to room picking up and wiping things down until he started knocking on my door. When I opened it, he gave me a damn smirk and I opened the door, and he came in. "What's up man?" "I am leaving for the weekend." "OK, and you are telling me why?" "Because you need to keep a close eye on Amaya. Keep taking her out. See if she will finally come clean about her job to you." "OK," he said, shrugging his shoulders in a way that pissed me off. "Is this some kind of f*****g joke to you?" "Nope," was his smart-ass reply. "Do not sleep with her." "What if I do?" he asked. "Just don't f*****g do it if you want to keep your job. I will tell you this one time, you f**k this up for me you will regret it." I snapped at him. He looked shocked for a minute but quickly recovered. He shrugged his shoulders and put a glare on his face. We both just stood there staring at each other before he finally got up and walked out the door. I felt like crap the second the door clicked shut. I felt so out of my comfort zone, and I didn't know what to do. I know what I want to do but it wasn't part of my plan and I had to stick to my plan. She had to learn she couldn't betray me like she did. I stepped off the plane in Cedar Hills and the hot ass sun hit me, making me sweat instantly. I got into the car that I had made sure was waiting for me. As soon as I turned it on the AC kicked on and it felt good. I left the airport, and it was like I went into autopilot and drove through town. As soon as I pulled into my driveway a sense of relief hit me. It felt good to be here. I missed home. I missed my family. I didn't even make it in my door before Reign and Tate came out of their doors. It was late afternoon; they should be at work still. I was hoping to have some time to myself at home but apparently not. "Where in the hell have you been?" Reign yelled as he stormed over to me. "Nice to see you too," I said, and Tate laughed. "It is nice to see you but what the f**k man?" "I'm just here for the weekend." "What is going on?" "Come inside and I will tell you," I told them and headed inside. "We should get Ace." Tate said. "He already knows." We walked inside and it felt so good to be here. I might have to move my plans up and come here sooner rather than later. I missed being here. We stood around the kitchen, and I explained my whole plan to them. They knew she had disappeared, but they didn't know she was the reason I went to prison and that my businesses got shut down. They both had dumbfounded looks on their faces as I told them. "Why in the f**k would you tell her that?" Reign snapped. "I was in love with her. I was ready to spend the rest of my life with her and in order to do that I had to be honest with her about things. She had to know what she was getting herself into with me." "How long from the time you told her to the time that you were arrested?" Tate asked. "Two, maybe three weeks." "So, when are you going to get her here because I would love to have some words with her," Reign asked. "You won't be talking to her. No one will." I snapped at him. There was a knock at the door and then it opened up and Ace walked in. He came straight over to me and gave me a hug. "God it's good to see you. I'm so glad that you listened and came home." "I'm just here for the weekend. I have a few things to take care of in the morning but what about this BBQ tomorrow and I think I have a niece to meet." "That you do but she is asleep at the moment and if I wake her up, I will be on Daisy duty tonight and I don't want that. I mean let's be real, I always take Daisy duty because I love to, but she will be a grump at dinner time if she doesn't get her nap." "Who are you?" I asked, looking at Ace. "The new sober me." "I like it a lot. While I'm still mad at you for everything you put us through with your whole dying and s**t, but I'm glad that you did it." "Thanks man. Berkley always cooks too much dinner if you want to come over and have some." "Thanks, but I really need to go see Mila. I have been ignoring her calls." We all just stood around my kitchen hanging out and talking like old times, only it was different, but it was a good different. While they were talking about kids, and I was ignoring them I grabbed my phone and pulled up my app and checked Amaya's apartment and she wasn't there. I closed it out and pulled up her tracker and she was at central park. "Are you on a date with Amaya?" I texted Jake and he quickly replied with a picture of them sitting on a blanket, smiling and laughing and instantly I was jealous. I was pissed that I was here and not with them. Yes, them, not just her. I quickly shook those thoughts out of my head and joined in the conversation again
