A ringtone filled the air and Scarlett fished out her phone from her pocket, she saw who the caller was and her face lit up, she answered it and squealed as she spoke “dadddyyy

Scarlett was grinning from ear to ear, it was easy to see that she adored her stepdad, “I’m great, how’s mom?”
The man huffed on the other end, “she insists we need to remodel the kitchen.”
The man in the other end did not seem happy and Scarlett had to stifle a chuckle, “daddy, just go with it! She’ll win anyway, so give her the kitchen she wants.”
She sounded chirpy but supportive as she advised her stepdad.
