We sat on the bleachers. Tessa, Tania, Tatum, Mrs. Martinez, Mr. Martinez, and Mr. Anderson. Orla and I were adopted quickly as part of their family, and thus, we were sitting among them.
Mrs. Martinez passed around beer and cokes… Like a good Irishwoman, Orla took a beer while I took a diet soda. We toasted and waited for the race to start.
The announcer read the lineup for the final race, “The Super Tractor Race.” Those were the modified ones with super speed. Usually, a tractor goes no higher than 20 miles per hour, but with Ezra's and Teddy's modifications, theirs could triple the speed. Mr. Anderson explained to us that was why they inspected the vehicles before the race; that way, the judges would know if the registered category was appropriate.
