CHAPTER FOUR It was ten-thirty p.m. by the time Stella and Carrie reached Greenwich. Driving into the town itself, Stella felt more and more ill at ease. She was reminded how compact the town center was. It wasn’t a big place. As Carrie wove her way past restaurants, theaters, and bars still doing a busy Friday night trade, Stella noticed landmarks she’d forgotten about. There were the signs to the main street, where Vaughn had promised they’d visit the annual Arts to the Avenue display. That plan had fallen by the wayside as his family’s influence prevailed.
