AFTER HAVING THE SHOCK OF HER LIFE, seeing her first love for the first time in several years, Keira decided to finally deliver Mrs. Jung's order. Wearing her comfortable denim short overalls, she playfully hopped her way to their garage while singing to NIKI’s Lowkey. She then went to her scooter and placed the flowers on the front basket before setting off.
Her day went by so fast and they had quite a good number of customers. She and her mom were already closing the shop for the day when she noticed her phone's constant ringing. She immediately panicked upon seeing Mia's name flashing on the screen.
"Oh my God! I almost forgot!" she panicked. After releasing a breath, she finally picked it up. "Hi, my dear best friend! You called?" she said nervously as she rushed to her scooter while waving her mom goodbye.
"Why the hell aren't you not answering my calls?"
"Well, you see... I was... getting ready for... for your party. I have to pay extra attention to what I'm going to wear since it's your special day, right?" she lied.
"Why is it so noisy? You better not lie to me, Keira Charlotte Delevigne, or I'll throw you in Nile River. Have you already received the venue details?"
"Yeah. I was just about to read it when you called," she lied again as she tried to drive fast.
"You better not be late. Get your ass off there already and hail a cab."
"A cab? But it's expensive," she said breathlessly.
"Keira, it's already 7:30 PM! Can't you mind spending a little just for your best friend's birthday?"
"Okay, okay. I'll call you later. I have to go." And with that, she ended the call, making Mia frustrated more than she already was.
In no time, she arrived home. She quickly rummaged through her closet to choose a decent outfit to wear. "What should I wear?" she continued rummaging her already messy closet. "I don't care anymore. This will do. It's not like I'm the one having the party," she just said as she randomly picked her clothes. She then combed her hair and immediately rushed out of the house and hailed a cab. She didn't even bother putting make-up on or even bothered looking at herself in the mirror.
After hanging up on Mia a few minutes later, she felt her phone vibrate. When she checked her phone she was shocked to see 5 missed calls from Mia and another call from her was coming. Before she could even utter a word, her best friend's rage welcomed her.
"Keira Charlotte Delevigne, where the hell are you and why aren't you picking up my calls? It's 8-freaking-PM already!"
"I'm on my way, I swear. Have fun in there first. I'll be there in no time," she said, hanging up on her again.
After 5 minutes her phone rang again. It’s a good thing that she’s already at the venue. She picked up the call to a livid Mia.
"Keira Cha—"
"I'm already here."
"Where?"
"At the entrance."
"Just wait there. I'll go get you."
"Oh, okay." Keira just stood there as she was told.
Minutes later, a gorgeous woman, wearing a maroon long-sleeved mini dress, appeared in front of her. "Hey!" the woman yelled and made Keira gather up her senses.
"Wow! Who the hell are you and what did you do to my best friend?"
"I know I'm already gorgeous but dressing up a little wouldn’t hurt. Besides, it’s my day today. You sneaky girl, you think you could fool me? You are" —she looked at her watch— "fifteen minutes late and what in the world are you wearing? Are you going to a business meeting or do you intend to play teacher to students inside the club?" She then focused on Keira's face, "You're not even wearing make-up." Mia's voice was a bit loud, earning the attention of the people around.
"Keep it down, will you? I was... Uhm... we got lost. The driver didn't know the place so we had to ask around. And hey, what's wrong with what I'm wearing? This is decent enough," she reasoned out.
"You got lost? This area is the most popular place in the district. What are you even saying? And what now? You’re saying you look decent enough? What am I going to do with you? Come with me!" Mia said as she grabbed her wrist and dragged her to God-knows-where.
"Wait! Don't walk so fast," she said as she tried to keep up with her.
Mia then turned back and glared at her. "Just follow me!"
They went inside the club and directly went to the VIP lounge. Mia dragged her towards a group of people before whispering something to the woman sitting in the center. The said woman suddenly turned to Keira and looked at her from head to toe. Keira felt her all the hair in her body stood up as she was being scrutinized.
The woman suddenly spoke, making her anxious, "No problem. Just leave her to us."
Three people approached her and brought her to a room full of clothes. One from the three looked at her and said, "Let's get started."
A scream was suddenly heard inside the room where Keira was brought and it was heard by her best friend.
"It's time to reveal your hidden beauty, my dear friend. And whether you like it or not, you’re going home with a hot guy tonight," she said to herself, smirking.
Minutes passed and Keira still hasn't gotten out of the room. Mia decided to have fun on the dance floor first while waiting for her.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the club, "Mia Everly, I swear if I get my hands on you, I will chop you into pieces."
Keira looked at her reflection on the mirror and her rage just intensified. "What the heck am I wearing? This dress is so freakin' tight. I can't even move that much because if I did, my juicy double is going to say hi to everyone!" she said as she pulled her dress down to cover up her legs. "And seriously, you call this thing shoes? God, I could step on anyone and kill people on the process with these heels. And my eyes... Why the hell did I have to wear contact lenses when my eyesight is clear? It's darn uncomfortable! And how long did that gaytard have to cut my brows with that stupid blade of his? It freaking stings. Why did they also have to wax my legs? It's not like I have long, curly leg hairs! It's not even visible from afar. Darn it! Every part of my body hurts! You're so dead, Mia!" she said as she got out of the room.
She walked back to the VIP lounge to look for her best friend when she heard catcalls. She frowned, looked around, and found a group of men ogling her. She then heard another catcall aimed towards her from a guy in the group.
"Freakin' perverts!" she murmured as she rushed to get away from those morons.
"Someone's shy," she heard someone say from the group.
"What a bunch of weirdos," she muttered to herself. She finally heaved a sigh of relief after she got to the VIP lounge but her best friend was nowhere to be found. She spotted her, having fun on the dance floor. Not wanting to disturb her and also not wanting to mingle, she sat in the corner of the lounge. While doing so, Mia's guests started to get fewer and fewer in the lounge as they all crowded on the dance floor.
While observing her surroundings, she saw the group of guys who ogled her earlier. They were coming towards her direction but before they could even see her, she sped to the bar counter to avoid encountering them again. She tried to look around for Mia but because the dancefloor was already crowded, it was hard to spot her. "Mia, where the hell are you?" she said, feeling anxious. She tried calling her but she wasn't answering.
She was starting to feel a gloomy and crappy when the bartender asked her if she wanted anything to drink. Not knowing anything about cocktails and liquor, she just told him to give her anything delicious. A minute later, the bartender served her a drink with a lime on the side, and salt was rimmed on the opening of the glass.
"Skinny Girl Margarita for the lovely lady," the bartender said with a pleasant smile on his face. After saying her thanks, she looked back to the dancefloor.
Seeing people having fun, she felt out of place but she didn't want to leave since it's her best friend's day. Her presence on this very special day is the least she can do for her since she can't buy her expensive gifts. She drowned herself in sadness and she didn't know she almost finished a bottle of margarita.
"E-e-everybody's ha-having fun" —she hiccupped— "while... I.. Imma workin' hard for ma family."
Yup. Keira's already drunk. And she's currently in her own world, talking to no one but herself. She was going on and on with her frustrations in life when a guy suddenly approached her.
"Reece, I found ya!" said the guy who looked drunk.
"Who are ya? I'm not Reece!"
"Leggo home! Ev... e-everyone's goin' to be glad to see ya!"
"Ya drunk? I don't know ya!"
Meanwhile, Mia was rather pleased to see Keira finally talking to some guy. She was closely observing her since she sat down near the bar counter. She was hoping guys would approach her. A lot did but darn it, her best friend was such a killjoy. She rejected all of them. She was close to losing it when she saw Keira getting so drunk and looking like a lunatic, talking to herself but thanks to that guy, she didn't have to get mad during her party.
"Leggo! So tired n' sleepy!" said the drunk guy to Keira. He kept asking her to take him home for like a while now. She just kept repeating and repeating like a broken record that she's not whoever he thinks she is. So basically, what they've been talking about now was the same thing they've been talking about an hour ago. It was so annoying that people near them started transferring to other spots in the club, even the bartender already had his earphones on to keep himself sane.
"I said imma not Reece! Ya get what imma saying?" she said for the millionth time.
"I'm sorry! Leggo! Leggo home, please!" the guy suddenly kneeled in front of her while crying.
"Whacha doin'? O-o-okaaaay! I'll take ya home," said the drunken Keira.
"Really?" the guy replied as he jumped in glee. He then grabbed her wrist and they walked out of the club in zigzags.
Mia panicked a bit upon seeing Keira being dragged outside of the club. She followed them immediately.
"Wait a minute, that guy... Where are they going? Could he possibly... are they going to... Oh my God!" She followed the cab Keira and the guy was riding on.
After following their cab around for 20 minutes, it stopped in front of a huge mansion. She saw the two getting inside the house after struggling to get to the gate in their drunken state. When they were finally out of her sight, she read the house nameplate that was just beside the gate.
"Theodore Dimitri's Residence? Theodore Dimitri? The Theodore Dimitri? That... that business elite? Then, that guy... That guy must be... Oh my freakin God!" she exclaimed as she got her phone and immediately googled the son of the said elite. After searching for a while, the image that appeared on her phone made all of the hair in her body stand up. "Holy camoly! My best friend is currently spending the night with none other than the future of Dimitri Group of Companies, Yvo Dimitri!"
