I was shocked at first, my mate and my brother went from getting ready to tear each other's throats out, to best friends. Jace formally introduced himself. The boys shook hands, and we made our way into the kitchen. Jake did exactly what he said he would do. The second he walked into the kitchen, he rolled up his sleeves and asked for orders. We spent the entire afternoon cooking, talking, and laughing. Jace and I were swapping embarrassing childhood stories. Jake just sat there listening and laughing. He almost never took his eyes off me, they were filled with so much happiness and adoration. As the afternoon gave way into evening the food was finished and I made my way to the cupboard.
